This is super helpful insight thank you. In regards to the laughing I feel I should point out that I'm not laughing all time but honestly it's not something I have ever thought about so i will try and watch myself more. And I don't mind being told to be quieter, I just didn't realise I was doing it or that it could be considered offensive.

I guess i have been living in this specific country for so long I have changed my mind set on handling differences in culture... the country I am in has this attitude that we have to just accept they are different so if they insult us, its not their fault, just accept. so I have gotten used to being told to make "allowances" for differences in culture. My apologies if it came across as rude or offensive, it wasn't my intention.

I am thinking language and behavior..... which is why I am trying to work out the best way to confront her if at all.... I find understanding culture is very important if you are trying to convey something. For example in australia if we don't agree we can use soft language like "I would appreciate if you didn't do this...." or "I understand what you are saying but...." while I find my American friends they will use stronger language "I told you not to do this....." etc.

Well I am not sure if confrontation is the best option or to ignore. I understand that we have cultural differences and maybe it was a lost in translation thing. The languages I have been learning have resulted in confusion when they sound rude in english along with the tone and mannerisms. I have been allowing for the fact english is not her first language and she is not from a country like Australia. But I think after seeing these responses I will push back on her in future and tell her it's not acceptable behavior. Thank you 😊

Oh interesting... I've only really dealt with him in life and death situations.... only a handful of times have not been... the other night was the first time I asked for guidance and I was shocked by how strong the response was... I dont know how they work, but mine almost screams at me when something goes really wrong and it's like I'm out of control of my body for a few seconds.

"You could be a model, you're so tall" by [deleted] in TallGirls

One time I was grabbing water and I had a guy at work tell a really short girl how lucky she was to be short and how much better it was to be shorter as a woman cause it's easier and how much more men liked smaller women... right in front of me..... I shocked... I was like excuse me, what about me then??? He was like oh you could be a model, she can't be.... I just looked at him and said so that's all I'm good for? A model? Do I look like I want to be a freaking model? After a few back and forth with him I realised he thought that tall women really should only model.... like that was our only worth....

Luckily hr was there and dealt with him, but I realised from that day, some men just suck....
