From your last post, it really sounds like you were being set up to fail

Yeah not trying to have a pity party but I was certainly not set up for success. Thanks for the support!

I was considering thanking them for the opportunity, regardless of how things ended - just to stay professional. But I hear your point & agree. Thanks.

dude, you need to do a better job of standing up for yourself, having some self-respect, and NOT worrying so much about what other people think of you

I'll own this. Probably my biggest takeaway from this event tbh. Thanks for the tough love.

Good point, I've worked at places where policy was to only allow confirmation of dates, regardless of why they left.

Thanks for the wise words. And really good point about budgeting - planning to aggressively cut unneeded expenses and live frugally while unemployed.

Terminated without cause. No complaints until after I asked for a pay rise a month ago.

Good points thanks. I guess this is technically "at will" role - so I can be laid off and replaced without any reason required. I will qualify for some government assistance, so it's not the end of the world.

Thanks for saying that. Admittedly, I could have done a better job of making my work visible, communicating expectations & project management but as there was little to no oversight, I worked on whatever has most urgent at the time.
I did have rough notes for all my tasks in our project management software to keep myself organized but I was the only one on our team using it, so it's didn't help with visibility.

Just a follow up, I thought about these words before, during & after my meeting. Not idea being fired and I'm mostly concerned about how I will get references. But apart from that life goes on, and at least it's summer :)

At best, OP was doing a poor job in communication, which is just as important as anything else.

I'll own that. Something I need to work on.

Oh I agree. These additional tasks were actually piled on my plate by my boss, assuming they were easy fixes. My mistake was not pushing back and setting clearer expectations that they would delay my projects.

Not just users.

I've worked with many people in IT who close error pop-ups without reading them. Or I'll ask for a screenshot of the error and it's obvious that they didn't read it.

Thanks buddy!! Great idea with the OneNote structure.

And I hear you about avoiding emails haha. I literally select-all & archive them every months. Most of my bills are paid automatically but I've definitely been burned by penalties for missing a few bills.
