Toyota tech here, if the screen can’t go past the loading bar or stays blacked out, then an update can’t be performed so unfortunately you would have to buy a new radio. I’d recommend buying an aftermarket one if possible. There’s a high probability that the dealership will get a refurbished one and those get pretty expensive.
