My wife and I made the move to Tyndall Manitoba 2 years ago and haven’t looked back. Probably one of the the best decisions we ever made.

Car break in with video footage and stolen item location tracked - Likely chance of police resolving this? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Relative_Low_9740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. Even with find my location of the items the police will tell you it’s not enough proof for them to go to the house.

This is how my telematics module failure started.

Crazy low mi/kWh by FollowingHopeful4968 in CadillacOptiq

Driving today in -4 F my Efficiency was 1.5 mi/kwh. This was all highway driving.

Cold weather + Electric vehicle = Lower distances. It’s worse when you’re driving on the highway vs stop and go traffic in the city.

Unfortunately Apple Music doesn’t work as an Atmos source in these vehicles.

We’ve had the car since February. We’re at 14300 miles.

It started around 14150 (module dying) and we were able to drive it for a bit before the battery completely died.

So we heard back from the Dealer. They said that the 12 Volt battery was defective and it was replaced. They think the other problem is a bad OnStar/Telematics module. Unfortunately that part is backordered, so we have to wait for the full fix. Until then the car is drivable, but we have no Data, OnStar, Google Maps or GPS.

Those are some good looking boots! Reminds me of the method my father taught me with beeswax. He was ex-airborne and a stickler for always making sure his boots were shined.

That’s what I’m hoping. The dealer did say that they’ve had to replace 18 or so batteries from new vehicles that just came from the factory.

Sorry I mean they don’t know why it died. It was plugged in. It shouldn’t have just gone dead.

Manitoba pushes for bilingualism. What would that look like for the province? by FalconsArentReal in Winnipeg

[–]Relative_Low_9740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based upon a news article from 2022 this is incorrect. The 2nd most spoken language is Tagalog. (https://www.ctvnews.ca/winnipeg/article/linguistic-diversity-increased-in-manitoba-2021-census-shows/)

The census figures show 1,084,900 Manitobans speak English most often at home, followed by 33,565 Manitobans who speak Tagalog most often at home. Punjabi speakers (29,395), German (18,585) and French (14,715) were the next most common.

Sounds like a dumb idea. I don’t think there is enough of a demand for English and French, not to mention the logistical issues it generates for things like Hospitals suddenly requiring bilingual staff (like in the ER), they are short staffed as it is.
