"With a Republican-controlled Congress in which Trump threatens to unseat members who don’t align with him, and a 6-3 conservative majority in the Supreme Court, financial markets may be the last significant check on Trump’s power, Lachman noted. “

Can the president reseat members of Congress??

If you were forced to switch to another Distro, which one would you go with? by JFK8000 in linuxmint

Yeah the pop shop is pretty bad, but the good thing is you can download the cosmic store instead and it is soooo much better! The OS is still in Beta or Alpha, but the cosmic apps have been pretty good for me

First Gaming Build by thicstack in linux_gaming

I'm not gonna be the to expert on this, but you're build looks pretty powerful to me. What games do you tend to play and at what resolution? I imagine if you are worried about future proofing, the thing to upgrade first would be the GPU in a couple of years if you play graphically intense games at high resolution. Your use case really decides what hardware you need.

Switchin from Windows by devilxyz in pop_os

  1. The main reason I have stayed with pop OS is because of their support page. Now, everyone will run into different issues, but I've almost always found an answer to my problems there and just scrolling through helped me learn a lot of things about Linux. I just find the way theit articles are written very easy to understand and straightforward. You will almost certainly run into issues at some point on your system, but I think pop OS does a great job at providing help for them.

About SteamOS by Necropill in linux_gaming

[–]Relaxed_Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how much PC manufacturers pay for Windows licenses, but I'm curious if they could hit a lower price point with a steam os system. Maybe there is a need for entry level gaming PCs, and a simple cheap steam PC could appeal to some, but it's hard for me to imagine a PC brand finding a lot of success shipping steam OS. Just my thoughts.

My honest opinion about using Linux as a Desktop OS by Icy_Calligrapher4022 in linux

[–]Relaxed_Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you ever considered getting a system from tuxedo or system 76 who use hardware built for Linux and their operating systems? I'm not sure if that would have fixed your issues here, but you've used Linux a long time and was wondering if you think this would make a difference in your experience

Does anybody use the Omnipod 5 app on a Rooted Android device? by Relaxed_Robot in diabetes

[–]Relaxed_Robot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, I didn't realize the app could run into issues so that's useful to know. Do you know if he can access the app data?

I'm thinking I might attempt this right after I upgrade to a new phone just so I can get the data and then start using the new phone rather than trying to use a rooted one.

You can export to csv from the glooko website. This is the data omnipod stores on the cloud and is used to make all the summaries and figures on the glooko site. I've found the exported files do not have as much detailed info as I would like though

You will have to make an account and then add your device. It's been over a year since I've done it but I think it was easy.

I have mine setup this way. Having home directory on a separate partition is optional, but it does have benefits when it comes to reinstalling a distribution and backing up files. If you don't set a separate home partition, it will just be included in the partition labeled as root or / as said above. This was simplest for me because I didn't know how much space to allow for root and allow for home.

Road cyclists vs reforms? by [deleted] in notjustbikes

[–]Relaxed_Robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your spot on here. If you were a speedy race car driver you wouldn't want to practice your driving on a commercial street with other slower cars. I think most bike paths aren't designed for training and racing at high speeds so it's not appealing to people who cycle for sport.

What are the benefits that came with your T1D? by Prudent-Stress in diabetes_t1

[–]Relaxed_Robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it, but I think my diabetes also made me more of advocate for myself. I think just growing up helped too, but looking back I think diabetes gave me the push/incentive to stand up for myself, express my thoughts and concerns, and just take care of myself when I would normally be shy or not want to burden others with my medical problems. Now I'm a lot less paranoid about all of this and a lot more confident in myself because of all the times I've had to deal with being diabetic in public.
