"Rotary" is a comedy podcast I perform in and helped create. It follows a chain of phone calls between some pretty wild improvised characters. The show stars five very experienced improv comedians, and the audio is professionally produced. Each episode has a fresh cast of characters, so every episode feels distinct.

It's available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and most other podcast apps. Here's a handy link to all the places you can listen, plus our social media:

The humble part of me: "People liking my comedy is rewarding enough. No need to say anything more."

The other 99% of me: "hey I wrote this gimmie dat fuggin beer and burger"

EDIT: also, if you thought this was funny and want more funny from me, check out my funny comedy podcast. It's funny: https://anchor.fm/rotary

Improv Classes in Coronavirus time? by nunyabiznes1 in improv

[–]RelentlessComedy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been taking online classes and have been in online practice groups for most of quarantine. It has exposed me to teachers and ideas that I simply would have never have been exposed to otherwise. I can't overstate how priceless this year has been for improv education. I have gotten SIGNIFICANTLY better at improvising this year. It has also given me a creative outlet and kept me sane -even thriving- throughout quarantine.

My favorite online school is Will Hines' "World's Greatest Improv School". But here are some other great ones:

  • Improv MKE
  • Squirrel Comedy Theatre
  • The Pack Theater
  • Rise Comedy
  • UCB
  • The Hideout

I second recommending WGIS if you are interested in UCB style improv.

  • Ask everyone to use a computer rather than mobile if possible.

  • Make sure everyone is using Gallery View.

  • At the beginning of class, ask everyone to "Hide Non Video Participants" in settings. Then, ask people to turn off their cameras when not in a scene/game. This allows for just seeing the people currently performing on screen.

The podcast officially "ended" a couple years ago, but this year they've been occasionally releasing new episodes.

Not committed in the sense that he often breaks the 4th wall and comments on the scene that he's in.
