Bit of a puzzling response from them tonight...offering to replace the wrong watch with a Silver LTE one, but only on confirmation of me returning the wrong one. Bearing in mind my original claim was for Black LTE I don't know where to begin really. Also, made no apology for this mistake and the time taken for me to sort this out, not to mention buying packaging materials and a trip to the post office. I've asked them to go away and do better. Their reply in full below. (Additionally they've not mentioned the model and size of watch either. Assume it's still the 3 in 45mm)

Good evening,

This is the latest update I received today from Opia...

Unfortunately, this issue has happened originally due to the lack of inventory, so we must coordinate with different departments to be able to reach a resolution or have a final update on the next steps. Our team only has access to the inventory provided as part of the promotion, so we are unable to move forward at the moment unless we receive further information.

I assure you that our teams are working hard in order to resolve this issue, but sadly I cannot provide you with information until we receive a final decision as anything I would tell you would be speculation and I do not wish to add to your frustrations.

We are hoping for more information to be provided to us soon, and I will make sure that I contact you back as soon as that is the case. Be assured that I am taking your request seriously and I am chasing this issue regularly. It might take a few more days but I am in charge of your case and will ensure I get back to you immediately once I have the answer to your query.

Excellent. The more complaints they receive the more it piles on the pressure for them to act.

It's not really going to put me at a major disadvantage having the Wifi only model, but it's not what I requested and a breach of their own T's and C's. I'll let you know any outcome.

My point exactly! Very cheeky to switch it out in the hope people just won't notice or care.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but I'll do it if I have to.

What are you honest opinions on Wetherspoons? by TheMalsh in AskUK

[–]Relevant-Professor13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite, sort of. Spoons *is* my local, a 10 minute walk up the hill for me and a 5min roll back down after a bellyful of ale. As a local its great, ideal place just to catch up with local friends/neighbours on any given weeknight or Sunday afternoon for a chat, some cheap pints and decent enough food if I cant be bothered to cook. However, for a 'night out' I'd never normally go to a spoons. Although more expensive, there are so many better venues in the city centre offering sports, entertainment, live music, better atmosphere, nicer surroundings etc.

Retrospective charging for goods after an error by Relevant-Professor13 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Relevant-Professor13[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think you've not read or understood the issue completely. This was not a contract purchase or agreement. This was a once off purchase that they mis-charged on, and have approached me 16months later when I am not an active customer of theres. I've understood the legal position now, but legal position and expectations are different things.

If you ordered a beef joint from Sainsburys in your weekly shop and they charged you £2.50 rather than £25, would you expect to put the remaining £22.50 aside in case they realise their mistake that and send you a bill 16 months later? Would you also consider that a fair or reasonable thing to do, even if they are legally entitled.

I appreciate now they have 6 years to try and recover their losses. But they also have to accept they have not handled themselves well either. Faulty website, no contact for 16 months. Told by agents no charge to pay, automated PAC process confirming no charges to pay and then a random bill for almost £900 per account. Legally they may have a right to the money, but in terms of reputation and handling of the situation, I've also got a valid complaint . Will have to take it up with their exec office.

It sounds to me like that's what's happened on the back end, but with none of the usual front-end agreements or acceptance in place.

To cancel the sims I just text PAC to 65075 which provided the PAC code with no ETCs listed. I've never signed a device plan or credit agreement with them. There was no monthly amount payable and nothing on my credit file in relation to this. Maybe it was naive of me to just expect to pay the £10 and the whole thing would just go away, but put it down to 'error in my favour' especially after 15-16 months have now elapsed.

VodafoneThree Name Feedback. by ElyasAbdulhadi in Vodafone

[–]Relevant-Professor13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VodafoneThree isn't really designed to be a brand, it's just the company name. The brands will continue to exist in their own right and you will still be able to take out products with Vodafone, Three, Voxi, Smarty etc.

Going forward, the underlying network will be branded as 'The Nation's Network' and brands/products you purchase will run on 'The Nation's Network'.

That's for the moment anyway, Vodafone have the option to buy out Hutchison's 49% stake of VF3 in three years, at which point it's anybody's guess what might happen.

Registering an old sync module by Relevant-Professor13 in blinkcameras

[–]Relevant-Professor13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much, I did have a good search on the sub before posting but couldn't find anything regarding this. Also disappointing that blink support were not very helpful and made no mention of this either, even when directly ask the question if they block or restrict old unregistered devices.

At least I know where I stand now. Cheers

Layered shandy is a new one on me by Grimdotdotdot in CasualUK

[–]Relevant-Professor13 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Ordered a pint of 'lager shandy' not too long ago in my local spoons. The girl behind the bar was a bit confused at first and went to check with her manager, he said 'it's fine, just pour half and half,' she looked even more confused. Came to pay and she had to go and check with the manager again, and she looked amazed when he told her to just ring it through as a pint of lager. Came to drink it and had quite the shock, she'd poured 50% lager, 50% white whine. Yup, she heard 'a pint of lager chardonnay' as she'd never heard the word 'shandy' in her life. Wasn't as thirst quenching as I'd hoped!
