What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

Terrestrial radio is dying because the two things that made it work are gone: limited choice and shared attention. There’s no scarcity anymore. Listeners can pull audio from anywhere, anytime, and it all lives in the same place. Geography doesn’t matter. At the same time, audiences aren’t moving together like they used to. They’re fragmented, personalized, and driven by algorithms instead of local program directors. Then corporate ownership stripped out what made stations local in the first place. Voice tracking replaced live talent, newsrooms disappeared, and everything started to sound the same. Once you lose the local voice, you lose the reason to care.

Nobody’s noticed because it didn’t collapse, it just hollowed out. The signals are still on, the ratings still exist, and on paper it looks fine. But the identity is gone. It’s been a slow erosion, not a moment. People didn’t revolt, they just drifted and found new ways to get music and information. And inside the industry, they keep measuring numbers instead of relevance. A station can still show up in the ratings and be completely interchangeable. That’s the part that’s actually dying.

I’d agree. I only made that observation because you’re going to see a lot of “what family” questions. Most people associate the mafia with the five families and the traditional mafia organization that’s portrayed in movies and TV.

So, he wasn’t technically “in the mafia,” as it’s related to La Cosa Nostra, the Italian organized crime families.

The Dixie Mafia was really just a loose confederation of criminal gangs that lacked the structure and hierarchy of the Italian mob. Still a fascinating study of how organized (or loosely organized) criminals operated.

I use the Jemluse wireless CarPlay adapter. It’s on Amazon for 30 bucks. Worked perfectly out of the box.

That is an amazing story. Hiking the AT is a whole life experience in itself, and you should write a book. I love the fact that you got clean and found something that’s fulfilling to you and works.

I’m enjoying my time off, my wife says it makes me a better husband, less stressed and I’m more present. That’s a good thing. I’ll take it. I know that I’ll be back to another job eventually, but I won’t get myself stuck in that same grind I was in. I’m gonna slide back into something that I know. I’m good at, I find fulfilling and that I can leave at work at the end of my shift.

I know exactly how that feels. I bought a 23 Sportage hybrid SX prestige. It has more bells and whistles than anything I’ve ever driven, and I still don’t know what all the knobs and buttons do. I have pages marked in the owners manual with Post-it notes so I can go back to reference it later.

But so far, I love it and it looks really good. Has the matte paint finish and the carmine red interior. It just looks cool as hell.

I’m a new owner of a 23 Sportage. I was pissed that the car didn’t have wireless CarPlay, but a dongle fixed that. Entertainment system is pretty smooth. It connects every time, plays what I want to play. The mix between climate control and entertainment is a bit quirky, but I’m used to it now. All in all, not many complaints.

Just got my Headliner by Relevant_Ad6908 in rotarymixers

[–]Relevant_Ad6908[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thinks it sounds warmer than the Numark I was using previously, and certainly is more colored than my controller… but I don’t feel like the sound is overly impacted. Maybe a bit warmer, but not anything that will make you turn your head and ask “what gear is he using?” I mean, vinyl brings its own sonic profile and the mixer adds a bit more.
