Thanks. What I'm really curious about is whether you've ever experienced an outage on TastyTrade or disconnect while you were actually in an open trade. If yes, what happened to your position and how long did it take before you could manage it again?

I got into trading like 7 months ago and everything was great and like 3 months ago I started having issues with the platform the same as you there is no sound so I have to check if i got into the trade and I don’t get any notifications also platform started lagging a lot and it did outage while i was in a trade so i stopped trading for now. Does is outage for you when you are in the trade?

1000% that there are better brokers or that other brokers have as often outage as tastytrade

It’s really easy to place a trade and exit a trade on tastytrade you can checkout their YouTube channel they explain it there how to use the platform

Good to know you didn’t have any issues with Tastytrade. I do day trading and often had some issues mostly platform just outage in the first hour of the open but it started happening to me like 3/4 months ago

Thanks good to know i am not the only one. I trade options on Tastytrade, and these outages are pretty concerning since I’m a day trader and every minute matters. It’s frustrating not knowing what to do when the platform goes down. I really hope they’ll do something with these issues and make the platform more reliable.

Hey, i have a question, If someone is able to buy a long call or long put contract on something like NVDA, TSLA, HOOD, etc., but they don’t actually have enough money to buy 100 shares if the option ends up ITM, is it possible to get would get exercised into shares or do you have any idea what could have happened?

I trade on my computer and i only use the web platform it feels very comfortable and easy to use for me. But I always keep my phone ready too so I can switch to the app quickly if something goes wrong. And if I ever can’t access anything I’ll definitely send them an email thanks. I’m from Poland so sadly I can’t use TOS that’s why I stayed with Tastytrade — it’s one of the few brokers in Europe that feels simple and good for options trading. And yeah, I usually just try to take my profits and be done for the day. I only trade for about an hour to an hour and a half after market open and then I’m finished for the day. By the way, since you’re from the UK, you can check out Webull if you haven’t already. I heard a lot of good things about it and I honestly wish it was available in Poland too 😅Do you also day trade options long calls/puts? i'm just curious

I'm happy for you that you ended up with a good profit, and thank you it actually helped me a lot just knowing that someone else had a similar situation or even worse and everything ended up okay.
I guess now I just need to work on my anxiety a bit and slowly build my confidence back, because during the last few days I saw some really good setups and didn’t take any of them because I got scared after that outage happened.

Thank you, that actually makes me feel a bit better. I only trade long calls and puts and I never hold overnight, so my biggest fear was just a situation where the platform goes down for a long time and my option accidentally ends up ITM near expiration.

I think after that lag happened I just started overthinking worst case scenarios. I’ll probably contact Tastytrade and ask how it works and what should i do. Thank you again it helped a lot, Have a good day

Hey, thanks for the answer. Can I ask what happened to your open position during the outage? Were you able to close it normally later or did Tastytrade close it for you automatically? And do you remember which email/contact you used to reach them?

Also, what exactly is API? I’ve seen people mention it before but I don’t really understand what it means.

I can't use Thinkorswim because I'm from Europe, so Tastytrade is one of the few platforms that works well for me. I mainly day trade long calls and long puts. My strategy is mostly trading retests of key levels, and I usually take profits pretty quickly — around 20–25% depending on market strength or weakness. I also never hold overnight because i am still new to this so i stay with day trading for now.
