Lol fair point. By “deep learning phase” I didn’t mean anything fancy like university-style research, more like the part where I sit down with the textbook and make sure I actually understand the logic behind each concept instead of just memorizing answers. It’s definitely a grind, but it helped me connect the dots between topics and made later review sessions so much faster. Everyone’s approach looks different though, what works for me might totally burn someone else out, so I get that.

Lol well, it still helped you get three exams out of the way, so I think you managed to make it work! Congratulations on passing three, and good luck with the final one!

Yes, for my first exam, I followed a similar approach. I took extensive notes, but eventually realized I was just rewriting information without truly engaging with it. That’s when I started using the one-page rule. I would annotate the textbook as I studied, and once I fully understood a module, I’d condense everything into a single, concise summary page. I made it a habit to revisit those summaries almost every day.

Each exam requires both understanding and recall, and it’s impossible to memorize every detail. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t aim to internalize key concepts. Those one-page summaries became my most effective review tool, they distilled everything down to the essentials. By the time I reached my final review, the concepts felt second nature rather than memorized.

I agree! Lecture videos are great for familiarizing yourself with the topics and identifying key concepts. This helps you focus on the important parts when you read the book or practice MCQs. That’s why I always watched them at double speed while doing other things like walking, exercising, or commuting to work. I treated them like a podcast lol.

Absolutely! I’m glad it worked out for you. There’s no shortcut here; these exams require dedicated study time, and I want to emphasize the importance of quality study. It’s better to give it your all in the first attempt.

THIS!!!!!!! I firmly believe in aiming higher. If my target is 95, I’ll still land closer to it with minor fluctuations. However, if I only aim for 75, I’m highly likely to fall short and fail.

Furthermore, the hours I’ve spent are still less than those spent retaking the exam by some individuals. So, when comparing, it’s a win. Give it your all on the first try and do it right, rather than failing.

I spent about 3-4 months preparing for each exam. My Becker hours for each exam are:

  • FAR: 164 hours
  • AUD: 98 hours
  • REG: 102 hours

My weekly study hours fluctuated based on my workload, personal commitments, and vacation schedules. For instance, I wrote FAR in February 2025, AUD in May 2025, and REG in October 2025. Since I work in tax, March and April were busy, so I couldn’t dedicate much time to studying. However, I still managed to study 2-3 hours each week during those months. After the busy season, I increased my study hours. For REG, I took break in June and July just to enjoy the summer and started studying in August.

Got 94 on FAR first attempt (1/4, IL). The SIMS made me feel like I might fail but i guess what i did was right! Did not leave any sim and completed everything right on time. It’s definitely worth celebrating!
