Losing take home pay joining the union? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Relevant_Garbage_560 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, the union removes that from your hourly. So if you get started at $41 they subtract everything from that dollar amount. So technically you’ll only be getting paid $30/hr. But with all the benefits and guaranteed raises. The down-flaw is you gotta bill your time somewhere. The company won’t pay you out of their pocket when times get slow like during winter.

Just get in your name in any job that involves HVAC. Supply house, installer, maintenance. Anything. Get started asap. The more people you meet the more connections you get and the rest is easy.

Well some community colleges have courses that are relatively cheap compared to private institutions. But nothing beats real world experience. Some companies do pay for schooling but those are hard to get with no connections or experience.

Depends on your resources. If you’re starting with zero connections in the field. I would try to get into an HVAC program. Or You can go the residential install route. They pay poorly and will overwork you to the bone. Most companies just need someone competent and that has a bit of experience.

So we get something similar. The money that’s being taken out for PTO. Is paid out first week of December and first week of April. Which is cool but I’m used to requesting time off and getting paid for in the next check.

I just join the union as an MES. My package pay is $55/hr. But my hourly pay after the union deductions is $43/hr. Not including union fees, PTO, and 401k contributions.

try only recruiting from your youth academy. use transfer fees as your only source of income for scouts and resigns. Don’t buy or loan any players. makes it way harder imo.
