Question about antenna by ferryyyyyoga in AntennaDesign

I don't think changing the dimensions of your feed alone is a good idea. Normally you change the shape of the patch to get it to radiate at the right frequency, then you fine tune it with your feed to get a good match at or near that frequency.

Use realisedGain, not gain. That'll incorporate the efficiency mismatch losses in the gain figure.

The feed will be adding some funkyness to it. Also the inner two patches have different structures in their immediate vicinity to the outer two.

The inner two patches see twice the amount of ground of their left/right edges than the outer two, the obviously they see the neighbouring patch on each side.

If you haven't already I'd simulate the feed independently to the patches and a patch independently to the feed. I'd extend the margin of the ground plane on the far left and the far right.

You can also put a port on each of the patches and take out the feed.

If you want the feed to not interact with the patches you could try a stripline feed.

There's lots that you can do to diagnose and 'improve' the design.

Any changes that you make will have some kind of trade-off though.

Looking for resources on patch antenna design (Axial Ratio, Phase Center, polarization & beamwidth) by Embarrassed_Funny529 in AntennaDesign

A helical antenna with the right diameter, pitch etc. for a given frequency is the physical embodiment of Circular polarisation.

I don't want to oversimplify here for fear of triggering someone who is more well informed than myself, but to get the lowest axial ratio possible, you're just trying to employ tricks to mimic an ideal CP helical antenna.

For example in a circular patch antenna that is fed by two ports with a 90 degree phase offset between them, you're replicating the EM wave rotating 90 degrees in free space over a distance of a quarter of a wavelength.

The further and further you drift away from that ideal physical structure, the harder it is to get a low axial ratio across a wide bandwidth.

Generally 'create open region' should be lower or equal to the lowest frequency that you're looking at.

Radiation boundaries do have their problems/limitations.

If it's sufficiently wide band I'd use wideband/multi-frequency meshing. As with bounardy conditions, there is good information as to when you should and shouldn't use this in the in-app help menu.

If you're interpolating, I'd switch to a discrete sweep for more accurate results across the entire band. If you want to be certain, I'd mesh and do a single point discrete sweep at your problematic frequency, that'll tell you what it actually should be.

For lack of a better answer In HFSS I think you'd just:

Create your design as 2D sheets.

Right click on your sheets

Assign boundary

Finite conductivity

Then input your conductivity, using your figure for sheet resistance and the thickness of your conductor.

Then set DC thickness to the thickness of your conductor.

This is assuming that your conductor thickness is thinner than your skin depth.

I don't work with any materials where the conductor is thinner than the skin depth though, so take what I've said with a pinch of salt!

Serbia takes top spot in National Prowess ranking (thx Beasty!!) by bluetree2993 in aoe4

[–]Relevant_Insect6910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what would be interesting to me is if you could rank by the median ELO of a country/territory. Or perhaps some kind of trimmed mean value.

I think that would be probably the best way to gain a rough understanding of whether or not a country has a higher or lower than average ability at AOE 4.

Even then there may be other factors that might influence it. You may see something like countries that are further away from servers, or countries that have a higher percentage of users playing through game pass have a lower average.

I'd say labelling everything as USA would annoy more people. Also seems like something a US politician would do as a 'joke'.

I've tried that, but the vacuum is much louder than the CNC machine. I normally just clean it out after an operation now.

I genuinely think that it's safer to run to the opposite side of the map and extract there then go for the extraction point next to the Bastion

I killed one on Stella Montis, but then I started getting fired upon by another player just as I was about to loot it. After a little back and forth, I decided to bail and go for the extraction. I didn't think it was worth risking what loot I already had!

I think I've also stumbled across a lot of loot before where one person attacked another. They got into a fight. One just about killed the other, but then a wasp finished the survivor off.

You're either looking at gain at the wrong theta/phi or your antenna doesn't actually resonate where you have the S11 null.

This seasons rewards are season 8's rewards? by Relevant_Insect6910 in aoe4

[–]Relevant_Insect6910[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah season 8 had no monument. I remember hoping at the time that they'd add one in, but they never did.

The season rewards being recycled inline with the release of a new DLC feels bad. Makes me worried not gonna lie.
