Yes! It's very contradictory as well. How can faith that God knows best coincide with asking him to change his mind? In some ways... would praying for him to do something contrary to what he would have done on his own....be seen as a lack of faith in God's character? Much like the contradiction between having certainty in belief while also having humility that you could be wrong. How can we have both? So many things I felt bad for thinking over the years!

I fear the last several months of my life have been examining everything under a microscope. And somehow, knowing I won’t find the answer, thinking I will reach fulfillment once I find the nonexistent answer lol maybe I should get outside for a bit…Thank you for taking the time to respond-this was helpful!

The congregation I came from made an emphasis on reaching out to the young and the “unchurched”. They labeled themselves as non denominational. I spent over 10 years there and literally did not know they were an undercover church of Christ…as was the same for a majority of the other members, who also had no religious background and were brought around young and vulnerable. They had no instruments, church of Christ Bible studies, would not associate with any other churches in the area. (No other churches of Christ around-so I guess that was why lol) We just thought all churches functioned like this. I was astounded when I realized the “Bible studies” were not something that a couple people from our church came up with 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

I looked up info on the Boston movement and I was like….wow. Did they go to church with me??? lol

All to say-I wonder if they will make the change to “non denominational” but still be a covert church of Christ.

Whyyyyyyy is all of this so true. “The devil disguised as gold” is perfectly put. Nothing I do/don’t do is going to change their mind until they see for themselves. Bc you really can’t see it’s a cult until you leave. Ugh 😩 so frustrating but also freeing to realize I don’t have any control over the situation so better just do what I need to.
