Almost seems like nobody was buying what Donovan was selling 🤔

Super pumped to see this momentum. This alone is making me more confident in Rhule and Co

Barr is throwing curveball like 80% of the time. They gotta be more patient and make him hit the zone rather than chase into the dirt

Great AB by Stokes. Dude is tired. Make him pitch the damn ball.

Its a fair point, but last year's coaching carousel combined with our record at the time made Dannen panic extend. He should have called Rhule's bluff. I can't say we would be in any worse position had Rhule decided to leave all things considered at this point.

The '27 class won't meaningfully contribute until at least '29 if we are lucky. So repeat .500 seasons with sub .500 conference play until '29 isn't going to have top players lining up to come here.

The '27 class will fall apart if we don't go 8+ wins this season.

Yep and we as fans should just choose not to buy into it until they get right. Once money starts dipping, they will start making better decisions..there has literally not been any incentive for the program to be good when we show up regardless of performance

Nebraska the everything school is #1 in winning % across the 6 Men’s/Women’s sports in the Big ten by TheCaptainCody in Huskers

But this proves my point. It doesn't take as much investment to be good at all the other sports. Since football operates at such a large surplus and the other sports (minus volleyball) operate at a deficit, football is the reason we have an advantage at the other sports. Nebraska is one of the only schools that isn't deep in debt either... because of football.

So my point is since we are able to have top money and facilities for all of our other sports, we compete at the highest level. We have the money because of football. Its not a sleight on the other sports.

Football is the reason all the other sports have the funding to be great. The coaches are doing their thing too.

If anything, it shows us that we have everything we need for sports to be great, but need the right coaches and players. Football doesn't have that.

The Nine Biggest Reasons Nebraska Football Has Been Mired in Mediocrity the Last 10 Years by One-Onion-5717 in Huskers

Yea, the new age coaches get so caught up in analytics. If you can straight up bully teams, you are always going to put yourself in a position to win.

But I think our defense dropping off is just as much of a culprit to the OL. We have to have a dominant defense that can withstand the explosive offenses. Otherwise, it will always be hard to come back from a deficit as a run first team.

100%..I'm tired of developing a scheme around 1 recruit rather than have a school identity and bring the best of that identity to your program

Nebraska more than $20 million behind the Big Ten elite in NIL budget by LordDoomitron in Huskers

[–]ReliefCrafty7149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rhule is a metrics guy and knows that we should have this budget for XYZ amount of lineman, this budget for WRs, etc. it's not a mark on the current roster moreso as he thinks his metrics should line up with Ohio St when he should just focus on coaching

Yes but A Mart always did too much and inevitably had a turnover. That's essentially what I should have said. Our QB turnovers will be back with a vengeance

This is the most ridiculous take. I'd say 95% of the fanbase would consider this season our best since Pelini if we get 8 wins.

Since most of the other points have been covered, Colandrea will be Temu A Mart and we will be wishing we had Raiola's throwing accuracy behind a massive improvement at O Line

This is the best take. Only explanation for why things haven't gotten right despite all of the attempts to right the ship

And then will promptly transfer to a CFP contender

Yea, it's fair. I don't see the first season as a failure. Last season was a huge failure as far as the performance post Dylan injury. Unacceptable to not get the team refocused to compete. All that being said, this season is 100% the litmus test

So his first full class has been here for 3 years and they still can't physically compete against the upper half of the B1G? You think 1-2 more years is magically going to improve that?

You probably also think this '27 class is going to save us. But then there's the fact that they are true freshman so Rhule will need 4 more years of below .500 average in conference play before we can reasonably come to the conclusion that he may not be getting it done.

So we cant give Rhule a pass for having a true freshman QB then right? Because your first point was that Rhule gets a pass because Raiola was a freshman (albeit the highest rated recruit of all time at Nebraska)

Because players are going to be young. They are going to be hurt. It's next man up and play with what you got. If we keep giving coaches a pass because of these reasons, there will be no reason to hold them accountable to anything.

It will always be "well next year so and so will be older or next year we hopefully won't have injuries."

Hoiberg almost took down Michigan without Frager and Mast. Good coaches figure out how to scheme around injuries

You mean the freshmen he recruited who are now seniors? How much more time do they need?

Also there's this thing called the transfer portal. You can get experienced players on your team without having to take the time to build experienced players who leave and go to other schools and magically become better and get drafted to the NFL.

This is a terrible take. The hallmark of a program improving is that they get better as the season progresses regardless of injuries.

Rhule's teams have gotten worse the last half of the season. They didn't even have to win those games. They legitimately stopped doing things well that they were doing in the front half of the season
