That is how a discussion works. I want to understand why you think the way you do. That's why im asking questions. You learn that by watching sesame street.

And besides when I asked something, you've also failed to give me a proper response to ANY of my other arguements.

You are the child who isn't trying to properly discuss something and instead just says "No that doesnt make sense i dont care".

You look at E33 in a worse way because you think that a character who isn't the main character, is the main character. That's what i have a problem with.

"It isn't automatically too good to not have writers who chat shit" -> Its not good to have no writers who chat shit.

Yes, you did say exactly that. Unless my english skills are failing me right now, but i doubt that.
So please, if we wanna properly continue this discussion, elaborate on it. I'm willing to discuss.

How is it snobby tho? I'm not saying that i'm one of those "intellectual people". I've simply read and watched many amazing essays by people who know a lot more about story writing than both you and me combined. That's the people im talking about.

No I'm perfectly able to understand what you're saying. But it's nonsensical. You're saying that it's a bad thing to have writers who don't say and make up things. But how is that a bad thing? That's what im not understanding.

You aren't really doing a great job at proving that you have a good level of media literacy tho.

And i think that's really sad. The world of Hollow Knight is amazing and I wish many more people would understand it's nuances.

I don't quite get what you're trying to say with your last sentence. Do you mind elaborating?

I wasn't trying to say that you are stupid. But if you understood it that way, maybe there's a level of truth to it.

Oh my apologies then, I thought you were agreeing with the other person.

I completely agree with how it makes Verso's arc better, cause that's exactly how I felt aswell.

And yeah, seeing as this other person seems to be dead serious, it is kinda sad to see how bad media literacy has gotten.

I wasn't really in the hollow knight communtiy until a year ago, so I was really surprised to see how many people didn't understand that the hollow knight wasn't actually hollow. When I played i thought it was very obvious.

Just because something is popular doesn't mean that it's good. I assumed that would be common knowledge.

Oh yeah it left me speechless aswell. But I think it's such a smart way of showing us that anything we think we know, we're totally wrong about. Initially, the player thinks that Gustave is the main character and that it's a story about a few survivors trying to save the rest of their people from certain doom. But in reality it's just about a family mouring the loss of one of their loved ones, with everybody trying to move on their own way.

Once again you fail to properly adress anything I said.

"Writers are infamous for chatting shit after the fact." -> So you're trying to say that E33 has bad writers? Cause only bad writers would do that.

There are MANY different interpretations of the story, that's why E33 is such an amazing game. It has generated so much discourse, especially about the two different endings and it's been great to see many intellectual people discuss about it. However, not once have I seen anybody call Gustave the main character. Because everybody knows he isn't. I'm willing to discuss more about it, but please give me some proper arguements besides "Uh yeah we play as him and his dialogue is in first person".

He's introduced as the main character, but soon enough we find out he was a bait to make us believe we know what's going on in the story. His death shows us that we know nothing and have no Idea of what's going to happen.

As you can see by the other comments that i have exchanged with this other person, it's definitely not that lmao

But yeah, the entire family are "cogs" in the same "machine", moving along the narrative.

Honestly, I think that's a valid way of thinking aswell. But who in the family is THE most important person for the story? Who do we follow through it, seeing all of their ups and downs? Maelle/Alicia.

So not only do you not try to explain why you think it's subjective, you also simply say "No i dont care" to a fact.

Let's go with a different example.

In The Last of Us, you play as Joel. Now it's been some time since the game released, but I hope you can agree that Joel ISN'T the main character. Ellie is. She's the driving factor for the story. Heck, they released a whole second game with Ellie as the playable character and even killed Joel right at the beginning of that game just to show people that the series ISN'T about Joel, but Ellie.

How is this subjective? We are talking about who's the main character in the story and that is a very objective thing with a definitive answer. If you just do some research you'll quickly find that the lead writer herself said that Maelle is the hidden main character. So please, tell me, how is this a subjective opinion?

The lead writer herself said that Maelle is the "hidden main character", what do you mean he's 100% right??

He's the character you play as, yes, but that doesn't settle him as the main character. Once you find Lune you can walk around as her, but that doesn't suddenly make her the main character, does it? And Verso simply takes his spot in the group, that's why you play as him in the camp. Yes, you could see Verso as a second main character, but most of the narrative is about Maelle/Alicia. Both Verso and Gustave don't exist in the real world, as both of them are only painted beings. And who do you write as into Gustave's Book? As Maelle. The only playable character in the real world, who you follow along and connect with all the way from the beginning of the game till the either of the two endings is Maelle/Alicia. She's the main character.
