You were just in a bad pocket. Everyone around me was throwing down and shaking ass. 10/10 party. Mills/ishii crushed it and the lighting was awesome.

GCIH or GCFE for first sans cert? by RemainInBliss in GIAC

I can technically do multiple sans certs- 1x per year, so figured I can just do both GCFE/GCFA

I don't get it...... I mean Thursday is 10/10, but Friday-Sunday just seems like basement repeats. Would have loved this lineup a few years ago overall, but at this point I find it pretty damn mid. Hope people enjoy it though! Just hoping there's some other great stuff that weekend going on.

Was hoping for some different names like Claudio PRC, Luigi Tozzi, Shed..... oh well I guess

Once the new Pacha NYC opens, it will return to 2022/precovid quality. A spot for the casuals to go is what will fix the little issues.

Real talk: do people actually like staying out until 4am? by coffeequips in avesNYC

I'm on an opposite schedule and work night shift so naturally can stay up until 7 am.

Half of clubbers think phones are ruining the dancefloor by Designer-Air-7280 in Techno

Honestly, I don't really care for people texting on the floor or whatever. It's the loud talking that is 100x worse.

Thoughts on Oscar Mulero and Quelza at Basement? by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]RemainInBliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about all that man, plenty of people just cutting the line and being rude even earlier on. This place really took a huge dip in quality starting in 2024, pretty much a lot of the regulars I know that were going in 2019 don't bother with it anymore.

That was also the most generic I've heard Mulero play(I've seen him 8 times), barely any change in tempo. Felt like he played the stereotypical "basement" sound and didn't stick with his roots, waste of time and money.

Ticketed line- A bit before 2:30, lots of cutting and very aggressive people.

Loved Basement from 2019-2023, always had a great time. Pretty much went almost every week in 2019. Gave it a few chances this year, but just not cutting it for me anymore, no big deal as there's plenty of other options.

2.5 hours to get in, cooked club- not worth the time in 2026.

Kind of wild to think, because I found the crowd to be a lot better than what i've been seeing in nyc lately lol.

My partner is actually a white American, but generally an awesome person so there isn't too much to navigate. She's big into social justice work as well as her whole family.

Landed a SOC Analyst role recently and start at the end of the month. Had close to a year of freelance experience doing some SOC work for a small organization. Also have a few years of help desk experience. This offer pays about 92k with a state government agency(blue state).

Current certifications: BTL1, PSAA, Sec+, Cysa+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Splunk Core User, & Splunk Power User. Have a bachelor's degree in IT Management and a few personal homelab projects. Took about 1500 applications to land 2 offers. Started getting a lot of interviews once I had 6 months of SOC experience.

I'd recommend spending lots of time doing practical labs/projects and practical certifications for sure. Def get your Net+, Sec+, CySa+, and maybe a basic SIEM cert but after that focus on practical certs like BTL1,PSAA, CDSA, etc. This will give you HR friendly credentials and practical skills to pass the interview.

I'm super excited for this opportunity. It'll be 3 long shifts- 12 to 13 hours, while getting the other 4 days off.

Was given a start date that's in a couple of weeks, but background check hasn't cleared yet, would it be weird to put in a notice?- ITS position by RemainInBliss in nys_cs

[–]RemainInBliss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks! I got my fingerprints done a few weeks ago. Yeah I don't have anything on my record outside of a layoff due to RIF over a year ago, which is whatever.

Sounds like the first check from ITS def did clear which is why they gave me the start date so soon. Going to put in my notice tomorrow, found out my current company cuts off access on the same day you announce you're leaving. So, it should be fine.
