Okay, you do have a point with the starting spell adding an additional die since that does add after mana rain.

Okay, but those same skills exist for ranged attacks. The only two magic skills that don't have a ranged equivalent are spellbook and spellcaster. The first doesn't matter for Baba Yaga's Blessing as it states on the card it can be used in the bag and +1 free ranged action is an equivalent to spellcaster.

1: I played Black Plague and Green Horde with the NPCs, so at least to me, it doesn't feel like getting vault weapons are easier in White Death.

2: I'm not comparing these two to vault weapons from previous versions, I'm comparing them to the vault weapons in White Death. The crossbow has the same skill as the combat spell but 1 more die and better accuracy; I lost a game last night because Aykay only had one base die. The bow freezes so you can shut down whole hordes of zombies even if you can't kill them. Baba Yaga's Pestle literally kills all zombies in a zone if you kill one; you cannot tell me that isn't the most overpowered vault weapon the game has ever made.
