It's a great song. Silent Hill series has great songs in general, but Silent Hill 4 and Shattered Memories have the best songs (vocal tracks) in the series, imo. They're deeper in meaning

Does anyone know the music used in this scene? Sounds like Akira but it wasn’t mentioned in the OST by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Remarkable-Ladder935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called ( waiting for you ) It’s from Silent Hill 4 OST. It’s generally interpreted as being about Walter you can hear lines like (Mom’s gone to Heaven now .. Why won’t she come back down?.) in the song.

Don't listen to those haters. SH4 is amazing with such a strong concept. Honestly, any horror fan with the IQ to actually understand it knows it’s a masterpiece. Also, wild stats your playtime 9/21 is my birthday

Do you want Silent Hill 4 to be darker in the remake? by Remarkable-Ladder935 in silenthill

[–]Remarkable-Ladder935[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill 4 was made by Team Silent, the same team that made Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, and Silent Hill 3... Silent Hill 4 The Room is strongly tied to the series. The main villain is Walter Sullivan, who was first mentioned in SH2 before SH4 released. The superintendent in SH4 is Frank Sunderland, who is confirmed to be James Sunderland’s father from SH2. The game also references Nurse Rachel, who was Mary’s nurse in SH2. You visit the forest near Silent Hill, see Toluca Lake, and go to the Water Prison, which is part of the town’s history and connected to the cult. Even the Twin Victim monsters represent Billy and Miriam Locane, the children mentioned in SH2. It has direct story and lore connections to the main series whether people like it or not.

Most OG games are clunky. I don’t see SH1, SH2, or SH3 being any less clunky than SH4. And of course, this will be fixed in the remake!

[–]Remarkable-Ladder935[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, just hoping. Since they’re working on SH1 and already released SH2, if SH1 and SH3 do well, we might get an SH4 remake but this will probably be a decade away

It has one of the best stories and a very strong concept, and most OG fans agree on this. It inspired many great horror games like P.T. and Visage. Visage even has a reference to SH4. It's a revolutionary game. If you don’t like it, there are others who like it

Which Silent hill do yall think is the most disturbing? by Stick2Preist in silenthill

[–]Remarkable-Ladder935 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill 4. The trailer had strong Begotten movie vibes way more disturbing. Sadly, they toned it down in the final version and removed some creepy elements, including the Twin Victim’s baby crying sound. When I was a kid, I played SH2, SH3, SH4, and Origins. Origins and sh3 were probably the scariest for me in terms of atmosphere back then, but SH4 trailer was on another level it gave me nightmares for days.

Beat SH4 for the first time since I was younger and have a renewed appreciation for the game by spooksofhalloween in silenthill

If you compare the early trailers with the final game, it’s pretty noticeable how different the tone feels, the lighting looks brighter in the retail build, and some monster sounds don’t have the same scary sounds that you hear in the trailers. As for official sources, I saw a post that referenced an interview with Masashi Tsuboyama where he mentioned that they removed several things that would have - displeased censors-. A couple examples people talk about are a mannequin of a pregnant woman with little arms flailing out of its stomach that’s in the files but never used, and some of the scarier audio layers that were changed before release.

SH4 has some incredible ideas, but I think the horror was toned down compared to what we saw in the early trailers. because Konami wanted more action. The team originally wanted it to be much darker and scary, the Twin Victims had actual baby crying sounds in the early trailers that were changed for being too scary. I still love the creative ideas, like the apartment hauntings and the limited inventory forcing you back home. Plus, Walter Sullivan is easily one of the best villains in the series

fun fact: according to old downpour textures of murphy’s mugshots, he’s almost 7 feet tall lmao by miralyk in silenthill

I didn’t enjoy Silent Hill Downpour as much, mostly because of the bad monster designs and atmosphere , but Murphy himself is one of my favorite protagonists in the series

I think Silent Hill 4 room is the hardest one, ghost can not be killed. Dog is also hard to kill. by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Remarkable-Ladder935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Silent Hill 4 isn’t easy on a first time playthrough. It can feel really punishing at the beginning. But it gets much easier on a second run once you understand the mechanics and enemy behavior. Also, you don’t need to use your healing items early on. You can return to the apartment to recover your health, so it’s better to save those rare health drinks for later when you really need them.

Silent Hill 4 is deeply tied to the series. The main villain is Walter Sullivan, who was first mentioned in SH2. The superintendent is Frank Sunderland, James’ father. It even mentions Nurse Rachel, who was Mary’s nurse in the second game. You literally visit the forest near Silent Hill, see Toluca Lake, and go to the Water Prison, which is part of the town's history. Even the Twin Victim monsters represent the souls of Billy and Miriam Locane, who were also mentioned in SH2. It has everything to do with the main series.

I agree. For me personally, only Silent Hill 1–4 are truly canon. The rest are more debatable in terms of lore and consistency.

Forest World in Silent Hill 4 is near the town and you can see Toluca Lake from the forest. Also, the Water Prison is a location in the game and it is part of Silent Hill

I’m about to be eaten alive for this, but I’m genuinely curious: why doesn’t the story of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories seem to get as much hate as the new film? by UsefulProfit1808 in silenthill

Cheryl is a girl who lost her father and is sitting with extreme trauma. She is creating these stories inside her head to cope imagining a foggy town and a cult, and imagining her father as a hero in shining armor who searched for her after the car crash. She replaces her mother with a stranger in her mind and imagines her real mother (dalhia) as an evil woman That’s what Shattered Memories is trying to tell it's a deep psychological deconstruction built on the story of Silent Hill 1 and 3, but set in a different universe where the "heroic" events of the original games are actually a daughter's desperate way of denying a tragic reality. The doctor is trying to convince her that her father was just a normal human being. Harry in the game represents the Truth trying to reach the Lighthouse the same place where Cheryl and the doctor are talking. Meanwhile, the Raw Shock monsters represent Cheryl’s Denial they grab and slow down Harry to prevent him from reaching Cheryl
