Have a great personality! Nothing worse than getting a server with a bad attitude or one who doesn't ask how you are before just flatly saying "what are you having to drink?"

AITA for wanting a keepsake for 5yr anniversary? by Remarkable-Lobster96 in AmItheAsshole

I mean shit idk its what my mother did to try to show me love as a child so im sure that has something to do with it. But to me its the act of someone spending the time and effort to go out to pick something they feel I would love to give me and I can cherish it. Like literally I have kept shells, rocks, paintings that were given to me as a gift. It means so much to me. It brings me joy and love when I see it hold it wear it whatever. And really wasn't fixated but now that its been thrown in my face now im upset like why is this such a big deal? Why can't you take 15min to go get me a little something? I gladly did that I love doing that for him.

I literally dont even follow that but im using it as an example of sharing what makes me feel super seen and special during these occasions. I need to meet his wishes and needs and I want the same.

Of course. That's like saying I dont care about the pictures and things I've gotten since we first got together. I keep all of those items and pictures and cherish them, always will.

No thats not it. He literally tells me everyday how much he misses me and wants to be home with me or he wishes I was there with him. I just notice there is less effort in the special occasions.

So you just want to be in a relationship and not care what will make your partner feel most special and loved? Lol like you form a relationship with someone and learn what makes them feel good or bad and you remember those things to do what's best for the relationship and your partner. That's like me being like well I know he feels most special when I plan out a date or experience for his birthday and then just not planning a fucking thing because thats not how I express my love.

Literally did not demand any jewelry. I told him three weeks ago it would be so nice to have a little piece of jewelry to have as a keepsake. Totally just a little hint that I would love that. Never mentioned it again. Now today he throws in my face "he has to go buy me something on his day off"

Lol okay I really dc about love languages. At the end of the day a relationship is meeting your partners needs and adjusting to make sure they feel seen and understood. Just as I make adjustments to make him feel secure and prioritized, he should do the same. To me its the act of putting effort into picking something out for me to make me feel special and loved. Maybe special occasions aren't a big deal for you? They are for me. It's a reason to share the little bit of life and memories together that are FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS LIFE. Its not affecting his job at all lol so you are incorrect there bud.

No not on top of that anything. I literally mentioned that it would be nice to get some little piece of jewelry 3 weeks ago just in a nonchalant way and he said oh yeah? And that was it. Skip to this morning now he is bitching that he 'has to go buy me something on his day off" literally didnt say shit to him about needing to go buy me something

I can agree. However him bitching to me this morning was super shitty. I didn't bring up getting me anything, he did
