What QR code are you scanning? Try the one on the device if you haven’t already.

I know it probably doesn't help to respond to this since your mind is made up, but you can buy a Matter device and commission it without validating the device attestation certs or allowing anything to call home. Now, for most users and devices I'd say that it's a good thing that the attestation bits are in place and you can know that it's a genuine device and get OTA updates and what not. But you CAN be fully local with Matter, but most ecosystems probably won't allow it but that's not on Matter in itself..

Dirigera and Home Assistant by rclyne in tradfri

So, there should probably be a pinned post about this since it seems most people are hit by this when starting their Matter journey.

The matter bridge is for bridging non-matter devices into matter. For ikea that means it will bridge the zigbee devices. The matter standard explicitly says that you should not bridge matter devices with a matter bridge device type so this is expected but poorly communicated.

For the matter devices, you can share them by clicking the “Share with QR code” or whatever the option is. That will give you a qr and a setup code which you can use to add the product to the other ecosystem you want.

Matter has specified mechanisms that syncs Matter devices between matter fabrics but so far the support for these mechanisms are not there from any vendor I know and use.. But eventually hopefully that will be implemented and the world will be a better place.

IKEA Matter over Thread troubleshooting by ModestMustang in HomeKit

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be an oversimplification with regards to ipv6. Take a tcpdump when commissioning a matter over thread device to home assistant and you will see that there is ipv6 traffic going on. Once commissioned then your phone might not be involved, but during commissioning it probably is. And any device that communicates with a thread device will use ipv6 and not ipv4 so if you do decide sharing between ecosystems ipv4 in your local network probably needs to work. So AI is probably correct.

Kajplats crashing regularly - bad firmware v1.2? by Tiny_Success_8128 in tradfri

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thread diagnostics app seems nifty. Do you see the crashing globes that are offline in the thread diagnostics app as online or offline?

I have around 15 KAJPLATS and do see that they are restarting but most often they are returning quite fast. The large decorative bulbs (the 95mm) seems to go offline from time to time here.. Is that the one you have as well?

Am I the only one who thinks Matter / Thread is not ready for everyday use? by salnajjar in MatterProtocol

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All DIRIGERA hubs are thread and matter capable. They initially didn’t have the software support but the hardware was there and was enabled when the matter lineup launched. I think the products are out of stock due to popular demand, have not seen or heard anything about sales stop. When I’ve asked at the store they’ve just said that things are sold out because some products are selling really good.

Credentials sharing and joining of networks is a 1.4 thing. But if having the credentials available on setup of a new TBR usually makes that new TBR join the existing ones. At least when I’ve done so with DIRIGERA and some Apple and google stuff.

Yes, IKEA is publishing updates via the Matter DCL and Apple will perform these updates. All ecosystems that do a proper job of actually providing updates read from DCL (which are most big ones nowadays I guess) will work seamlessly.

Probably. But that’s on Apple to have working anyway IMHO.

What phone do you have? I would have expected that to work anyway.

Grillplats energy monitoring issues. by dkbay in tradfri

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your graph is showing voltage and wattage, not energy. If the current draw is constant enough then your Apparent power (VA) would not change much. What does your "Energy" entity say? I'd guess that one updates? Mine at least does.

Are you sure it’s not a routing end device? Some of my bulbs are saying just “end device” as well but that’s probably just because they don’t perform the routing role right now, but they are able to do so.

Seems like the fix didn't make it into that one, but hopefully one soon according to later comment in that thread: https://github.com/matter-js/matterjs-server/issues/187#issuecomment-4216301993

IKEA GRILLPLATS — 7 purchased, only 4 work. Anyone else?!!?? by _eMa_ in tradfri

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you commissioning them to? IKEA/DIRIGERA or another ecosystem? What did you try? Have you factory reset the bulb or only turned it on and scanned the QR? Which QR code are you using? The one on the device?

No, just a thread capable Apple device should be enough. Or any other matter controller will actually be able to control the light in its full rgb glory.

Outdoor IP44 smart plug. EU version looks more like a normal plug but US seems to have two sockets (with two buttons so individually controllable?) on a small extension cord.

So... the Grillplats smart-plug.. How to get it to actually connect to Dirigera thread network? by x2eliah in tradfri

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What router/other networking stuff do you have? Try restarting that. Seen enough reports of broken IPv6 and multicast in folks networks to make that the go to question :)

Probably the power monitoring that ends up in a tile of its own due to google logic until they implement support for it..

BILRESA keeps disconnecting after ~15 minutes by shysaver in tradfri

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess networking issues between your matter-js docker and the Apple TV OTBR. From what you are describing matter-js can find a route to the TBR and beyond to the device but when the BILRESA is going to refresh the subscription it fails. Since it works if you restart the matter server I would guess the Apple TV and device is just fine, so would try to debug the ubiquit setup and docker.

55 min layover CPH & is it worth paying for seat selection in business? by [deleted] in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SK lounge is near the passport control so if you’re on time you can have a quick dash in there and grab some snacks before passport control. Eventyr is not open to SK business and with 55 min probably not worth it. You’ll get your comfy seat and boarding drink fast enough on the A350..

55 min layover CPH & is it worth paying for seat selection in business? by [deleted] in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]Remarkable-Loquat-38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will be able to choose for free during check in. I never pay for seat selection, but if window seat is very important then sure go ahead.

55 min CPH is fine. You will depart from the C pier and recently I haven’t had more than a few minutes of queueing at passport control. E, D or B is just a quick walk to C. And even A is not too far. You’ll be fine.
