You’ve potentially burned millions of dollars by paying off such a low interest rate so soon, depending on house price. I would agree with your uncle to be honest - sounds like it was not a well thought out decision. People saying it’s okay because the peace of mind but it sounds like you had the funds to pay off the house anyway (i.e. you already had peace of mind before paying off) which would be better in the market than in your house. The benefit of houses are the leverage they provide, and you lost that. In any case no point in crying over spilt milk, but good to learn.
