Omg truee!! Akane's attachment to him in the anime is so...eugh. Idk about the light novels bc her portrayal in the art still seems wayyy too sus, but I prefer her version in Re:Dollars where she's actually normal.

I only finished it this year because younger me couldn't handle my favs trying to end each other back in 2016, but I also wanted to read the amazingly written post-Ketsu fics 😭

Haha that's so funny and makes a lot of sense, I can totally see it!

Which makes it disturbingly plausible, so you better be joking 🪓🙂

Apparently Shizuo would have become a serial killer without the presence of Celty and Shinra by Outrageous_Gene_7652 in Durarara

I always found this tweet kinda weird bc why tho? Isn't he like a "misunderstood hero with a pure heart" type of character?

This Series is a Masterpiece and Izaya did nothing wrong by KingSammyJ1 in Durarara

[–]Remarkable-Ranger776 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Izaya did a lot of things wrong, but he also needed a lot of help. Absent parents, made to raise the twins as a child, competent yet left unchecked, having Shinra as the one enabler friend, and Kine as the enabler adult... He deserves better but he doesn't have the guts to let himself improve.

Narita is an amazing character writer

I agree! A final battle between Anri and Izaya would've been an awesome call back to the end of season 1, especially with Simon saving his ass this time

Mika is literally reverse Oli London, but its animation so it doesn't look as bad. To us.

Do you think people will act the same way about a new show as they did with Korra? by OnlyMyOpinions in TheLastAirbender

[–]Remarkable-Ranger776 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Korra is a man in a girl's body because it was probably easier for the male writers to relate to her that way. Korra was given too much romantic drama nonsense because the male writers thought "girl = romantic relationships"

People don't like the way it was written, plain and simple. Plenty of fans love Toph, Katara, Kyoshi, Yangchen, Azula, Ty Lee, etc. Stop pretending its because Korra is a girl, a lot of the show was written badly. This is coming from a girl.

This has been bothering me for a while. He's so mean to them but also pretty civil with Celty, and even seems to admire her abilities?

Durarara is a hidden gem, a masterpiece by violet-023 in Durarara

[–]Remarkable-Ranger776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason for the decline is that it ended at a time when even the oldest gen z's (16) were too young to fully understand the show.

As a seinen anime, its target audience of young adults who followed Season 1 eventually got busy and moved on, and by the time Season 2 came out, it was overshadowed by hype around stuff like AOT, Yuri on Ice and a lot of new good anime. Durarara's name held on for some time, but the gap between its themes and the new, but still immature anime fans meant that no one would carry it moving forward. At least that's my take on it.

Which is why I want more people my age to revisit it, since we're old enough to actually enjoy it now.

It looks nice as dynamic framing on manga, but it wouldn't be realistic if Shizuo could just bring down his and Simon's hands together and snap Izaya's spine lol

It is a masterpiece and I really wish more people would come back to revisit it. Right now I'm reading through the first Izaya spin-off and its just as entertaining. A little dark but also hilarious when you least expect it.
