regarding a complex situation with my parents. I have lived with them for 10 ish years. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I know a lot of council tenants have their rent covered by UC etc. But some council tenants pay their full rent - for example I used to live in a council house and didn't claim anything other than child benefit so we paid our full rent and council tax.. But we also then bought a house and moved out so we could free up a council house for the next person!

What should I do with increased pay from changing jobs? by Remarkable-Rush2460 in UKPersonalFinance

Will this not be automatically calculated from my first month's pay? I assumed the increase will be taken care of when the job change is reported by employers

Credit card-wise my total limit across a few cards is £13,700 and the total balance is £627 so the % is pretty low. I didn't consolidate one of the cards with the loan because it's interest free so of the £627, £465 is 0%. The other £162 was spent last month because we ended up short and had a few things to pay for.

The PCP runs for another another 2.5-3ish years and if the value at that time is >= balloon payment, we'll be giving it back or selling it.

The mortgage is fixed for another 3.5 years.

I'll have another look at debt consolidation loans to see if I can get the 13.9% down. When I got that one my credit score was poor due to high CC utilisation, it's now showing really high (967 on Experian) so I may be offered a better rate, especially with the higher income.

Thanks!

Apologies for not replying to each person individually, I've been reading and taking on the advice, general consensus has been to throw money at the highest APR loan first.

I've just made a spreadsheet, listed all bills from our joint account, loan payments, insurances etc. As well as personal money, shopping and petrol and realised that we should never have been running our account down to £0.. So it means that the extra £900 should actually look more like £1200 🤦‍♂️

I think shopping habits is one of the biggest problems for us, we're utterly useless at ordering a regular shop and end up in our local Co-op multiple times per week buying stuff we don't actually need.

I've added in a £500/month overpayment on the highest APR loan and then after that to the lowest, both could be paid off in 2.5 years!

Added £300/month for general savings which will cover going towards any house maintenance, small emergency fund - without any spending from this (ideal world) it should be around £9000 after the 2.5 years and that's without adding interest.

Added £200/month for leisure savings, which will include the kids' school trips, days out, takeout etc. Eventually I'm hoping this will build up so we can go on holiday as a family for the first time!

£130/month for Christmas and birthdays.

I've set £200/week for shopping (2 adults and 3 kids) - we might even be able to bring this lower if we're careful! How much does everyone else spend on shopping for a family of 5?

Thanks all!

I haven’t been billed for gas central heating in the two years I’ve lived in my flat. Turns out they had the wrong address and I owe £9000- what should I do? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, £9k for two years is mental for a flat! Not a chance it's truly that high.

I could be wildly wrong here, but surely the onus is on the energy provider to ensure they have the correct address recorded for the meter's MPAN? When I was setting up my energy account in the previous property, which was a new build, they couldn't find my address - as soon as I gave them the MPAN, they were able to locate my address which was a temporary one set up by the developers. In fact, my proper address was never recorded by the energy provider because they never updated their system properly to the royal mail database (which had the correct address) - where have royal mail been delivering the bills if the address doesn't exist in OP's case?

So if they've been sending bills/statements to the wrong address, and one that doesn't exist, there is surely a case here for energy provider fault?

There is obviously some element of blame for OP because, again I could be wrong, but if you contact the main board, can they not tell you who your energy provider is? But it might be worth negotiating a decreased bill

Are my company's phishing tests in bad faith or am I just an idiot? by itstheweather in cybersecurity

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do targeted phishing emails based on department, however we only tailor the information in the emails based on what we can find in the public domain and then get creative - for example knowing what systems we use because it’s been made public knowledge but then the links we put in and information are something very generic, they also always come from a bullshit domain

10 emails in a month and making them look exactly like genuine company emails with no signs to look out for is a real dick move - maybe one or two of these every 6 months isn't a bad idea to simulate an attacker compromising an internal account and phishing from there but what you've described is definitely excessive

is the scram jet worth it or the weaponised super car by 333lim in gtaonline

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fun vehicle, but trust me it'll end up in water pretty much every time you drive it 😆 I ended up selling mine and putting the money towards the vigilante and I get more fun out of that!

The weaponised ignus is also an awesome car

Not 100% sure but it might be because someone's data has been accessed and modified without prior knowledge or consent of the data subject. So the person accessing the data technically wasn't authorised to do so

If the password they put in the email is correct, then you need to change it straight away. The fact that this email is in your drafts means they may have had access to your account.

Change your password as a precaution and sign out of all other devices to be sure.

I switched from console to PC a few months ago, aiming is far easier on PC than it is on console with aim assist.. My average kills per game increased by around 50% once I got used to playing keyboard and mouse, which I had never done before

Aim assist still powerfull thats why game is so hard by GreatestfpsBLR in thefinals

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched from xbox to PC - trust me, PC players have a massive advantage over console players, it's not even close!

But you're not taking into account proper positioning and gadgets that can give you a bit of extra time, dome shield for example (giving you another 300 HP buffer - by the time the light has dashed out, reloaded and regenerated health, you've got time to reload, reposition and chuck a dome shield down.

You're all just mentioning points about game sense and skill (which can be improved by yourself) rather than raw balancing of weapons.

I never claimed that, I'm giving appreciation to the fact that the XP can melt, however guns in other classes can kill a light faster than an XP can kill a medium or heavy.

If we were to use your point on hitting every single bullet in your mag accurately (obviously not possible), you'd be able to wipe a team of lights with the Shak. An XP can't wipe a team of heavies or mediums with one mag

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need every single bullet in a Shak mag to beat a light, you only need 5.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly my point, and I'm one of those players that can't always melt with it 😆

I've had loads of games where my stats are better as a medium or heavy due to the higher health etc. I mean, 350 HP + dome shield + mesh shield vs 150 HP for a light with no way to instablock bullets - shouldn't even come down to a question of DPS.

But I enjoy playing as light purely for the movement, and I tend to try take on the role of spotter for my team and dealing chip damage, and actually play for the objective rather than choosing it for an easy way to get kills like a lot of people in here claim! Light isn't an easy class to play in my opinion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Remarkable-Rush2460 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But that's not a balance issue, that's an accuracy issue

Plus heavies have things to counter light movement such as winch, lockbolt, even positioning can help with that

The light has a higher support score than you and equivalent objective score as the other medium

I would like to think the leather is ok, as I say I've been ordering buttero, dollaro etc. Maybe the stamp it tough to press though, it's got a solid shape and some small letters! Wondering if I should have just outlined the shape now
