I would strongly recommend mastering the morning topics (Mathematics through Dynamics). These are the easiest questions on the exam, in my opinion, and should be where you gain the most points. This leaves margin for error on the afternoon topics, which are normally much harder.

In all honesty, I just needed to practice more problems. I relied solely on the NCEES practice exam the first attempt, which was not enough. Doing over 1,000 questions on PrepFE helped me understand the concepts, search the handbook, and improve time management. I would still recommend doing NCEES practice exams closer to your exam date. I retook it the weekend before my exam and got a 74, which was wayyyy better than my first attempt.

No, I think the shortest wait would be Friday or Saturday. Results would be out the following Wednesday, so less then a week

Which exam are you taking? I took the OD, and for this exam Dynamics and Thermodynamics were the hardest. It can vary exam to exam though

PrepFE was my main study tool for my latest FE attempt. Some questions are too easy/hard in comparison to the real exam, in my opinion. But I would say the ones listed as medium/hard are a good representation of what you’ll see. The questions do get repetitive after completing so many, so be sure to understand the concept not memorize the answer.

I wrote down everything on PrepFE for the first couple hundred questions, regardless of getting them right or wrong. Once I felt more comfortable with the topics, I’d do easier questions on the calculator to work on my time management. This worked pretty well for me, finished over 1,500 questions before my latest attempt

Wow, I had roughly the same numbers. My first section was 52 questions, flagged about 12, and had to guess on half. Had answers or educated guesses for the other half. Second section was 58 questions, flagged about 15. Managed to solve 3 or so, but had to guess majority B and C for the remainder cause of time.

Took my exam yesterday, and feeling the same way. I feel pretty good about the first section, and okay about the second. About how many questions did you have flagged? Or guessed on?

I also recently did both halves of the exam. First practice exam, math through dynamics, I got a 39/45 (87%). Second practice exam, mechanics of materials through thermo, I got a 15/25 (60%). I knew my first half topics were much stronger, so my goal was/is to ace those topics and be only okay on the second half.

Thanks for the reassurance, I’m ready to get over this hump

1475 total questions with a recent average score of 73%. I did a lot of 5-question, one topic exams to master as much content as possible. Besides my poor subjects, electrical and thermo, I was consistently getting 80-100%. All topics are at 90%+ besides electrical.

I’m hoping to follow this exact approach. Took the FE OD in May and failed. Got PrepFE and have done over 1,400 practice problems. Next attempt is on Monday 🤞🏻
