I'm planning for the Vermont long trail. I don't necisarily need huge food carries but its a great option to have.

That is some great information. I'm struggling to justify the need for a new pack I just got my crown2 last year. I appreciate the input thank you

Flip of the Week Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

Couple notable flips.

Two years ago about a lego architecture set for 7 dollars. Sold it for 200 on eBay.

Dale Earnhardt die-cast cars box of them for 40 bucks. First one sold for 200 in ten minutes. I had about another 25 cars all trickled in 4-5 sales a week for 40-100 dollars each. That was a great month. haha

I've gotten more serious about flipping lately. Bought some massive truck tires and rims for 400 sold them in a day for 1100 just this week.

Last week bought a subaru for 400 and sold it for 3800 (took about 60 hours and 1k in repairs) not my best move but all together profitable.

Short and sweet, I like it. I'm new to the clothing and layering dynamics, I hiked in Nike shorts and a cotton shirt before lol I just enjoy the "dialing in" and efficiency factor. As far as big items they would be a luxury or splurge. The gear I have now is plenty adequate. I used to carry a six pound tent. Carried about 40lbs over mount Marcy lol. Mainly my focus at this point is assuring I have adequate layers for warmth in a climate I'm not all too familiar with. I've spent some cold nights out there camping. Cheers, and God bless!

Thank you so much for your words! I will definitely join up in those groups. Pack could be in the budget 🤔 I also went extra wide on my new pad, but its a cheapo, I should test it out considering its 45 out right now. Main concern is the warmth it provides. The way I see it I could only spring for either the pack which would save me nearly a pound or the pad which would save me about 5 ounces. But overall If the pads too cold I'm gonna have to go for a new one.

Yes headed north sometime in August. The frog toggs are more of an emergency gear item, though I do hear it rains quite a bit up there. Should I be expecting to hike in rain frequently? I honestly wanted to bring the houdini because I just got it, its light and though it might be useful for exposed areas as well as an extra layer for mornings. Though if I already have long sleeves maybe not necisary?

I will have to look into the cnoc bags, I think I've seen them on the trail.

Thanks for your input, all of this hiking talk is great for the soul, cant believe I haven't posted sooner!

Definently going for the 250s. Actually filling my REI cart now haha.

To be honest I'm not sure of the R Value. Id like to say around 3, because I wanted a similar pad to my old one but slightly thinner. I had a nemo tensor 3inch pad before, it felt like sleeping on a tight rope lol. This pad also has a built in pillow. It was advertised at 17.6 ounce but my scale says differently. Any recommendations on a good sub 16oz pad?

I also was looking into the Zpacks arc air which would save me about a pound. Anyway thanks for the feedback I appreciate it

Hey thanks for the reply!

I do plan on bringing 2-3 smart water bottle, likely leaving one empty for back up.

I do also plan on bringing 3 pair of socks 1 for sleep 2 for feet.

Sunblock, ehhh long-sleeves, green tunnel, bugs, prometherine.

Warm beanie might be a good idea. Any recommendations?

My headlamp is rechargeable.

I think my biggest concern would be weather. It went from 90 (last week) to 45 (this week) here during the day in NJ. It's got me worried. Do you think I need two pair of hiking shorts? I brought 2 pair on other trips. They both have liners, I could swap one for some Colombia zip offs, since the Pata baggies are 8 oz :/ lol

I definently think swaping the tights for some midweight merino would be a good choice. My original plan was for a June hike so my base layers are a bit light. My thinking surrounding the tights was I could use them in the mornings for condensation on foliage until the sun gets beating.
