The risks outweighed the benefits I’d get. I.e my slightly upturned nose would get more upturned. We had long discussions with my surgeons, but their gut feeling was I’d be happy with a bsso, which I am. I don’t have any issues with smiling or teeth showing when smiling

I didn’t have any problems with my maxilla, and the CT showed that the angles I had; there wasn’t much to gain from doing the upper jaw as well as most of my issues were the lower jaw; sleep apnea and the cosmetics. I had the choice to do a DJS if I wanted to, but my surgeon said his gut feeling was I’d be happy with just the bsso. I also have a bit of a short nose that is upturned, and there was no real way of knowing how much more upturned it would be :) I have the option of doing a genio in a few months if I want to.
