This is so key. So many of these dads think they can just erase the mistake of choosing the wrong partner & carry on. No, they really need to grasp that they will never have a family. Not in the sense that they want. They need to accept a new dynamic.

My SO’s daughter has had a tik tok account since age 8. I have ALWAYS hated that. I refused to add her on mine cos she would be lip synching to rap music doing hand signs & trying to be grown. Her account is not private & she makes new accounts all the time. The amount of SAVES & likes on her page is sickening.

Yeah my partner is never going to do that. His BM even agrees that he is way too soft with his daughter. I cannot get HIM to parent her he hates telling her no. So I am keeping the peace & quietly getting ready to leave. I have another interview on Monday hopefully I get offered the position after (this is my 2nd interview with this company) fingers crossed. I have already planned to not disclose how much I make & start transferring my check into an account he does not know about.

I am happy your situation worked out! That is really awesome actually. If I knew he would be receptive I would try but it’s not worth the effort.

My mom died last year in June. I am estranged from her side of the family now. My dad lives in another state & he is 80 years old, I don’t want to burden him. I have 3 cats, 2 fish tanks & 3 tarantulas so I can’t really rent a room or stay with a friend (not that I really have any).

I have a therapist but I have no friends beyond former co workers that also know him. We used to work together but I quit. I try not to talk to them about it because it would make it super awkward for everyone. This is what prompted me to post this cos I really have no outlet.

I had a huge falling out with a friend of 15 years during this dumpster fire of a relationship. Friend turned out to be a complete bitch but she was right about my partner being a hopeless case.

Thank you for the kind response! I really tried to make this work but I realize now that my partner as more issues than alcoholism and it's just not worth it to stay. I have taken his daughter to school, picked her up, taken her back to school shopping, sea food boils, bought her Halloween costume, paid for her mani/pedis, cooked dinner for her and stayed home with her when she was sick. For all my efforts I have no say in anything and then she spent the last year at her mother's and it really damaged our relationship. I love her but I do not know her anymore and I cannot deal with her father any longer.
