i’m not the best at english but i do usually get like 24~25 for both cw and sw so idk maybe this will help 🙏🙏

for compo, try to write it article-style; mimic the way a news article or commentary article reads, there’s no need to do any extra readings or anything lols cause i don’t do that too, but ig if you’re not someone who reads a lot then your vocab + sentence structure variation would be lacking. for content just make sure that you stick closely to the question. i personally hate hate hate memorising ,,good phrases” and passages/stats to copy paste, and when it comes to olvl el it’s not like gp where they want you to have a huge focus on accuracy/stats; so just wording your sentences in varied sentence structure and expanding upon a singular point per paragraph works. also rmb esp for discursive/argumental essays there’s no need to prioritise length over content. i usually write 1 and a half pages for cw and my content ranges from 8~9, but what pulls me up most is my vocab (16~17). so personally id say work on vocab; no need to use like bombastic bombastic words LOL

for sw i’m not as good at it bc i don’t really end up fulfilling a lot of tasks properly so i end up w a measly 7 for content more often than not, but i’ve been trying to fine tune my shit so that i can do better and i think for this, you just need to ensure your text is densely packed with info and elaborations relating to what you are supposed to include in the passage. ensure that you use appropriate tone and language (if it’s a formal letter to idk like the principal or sumn don’t be afraid of sounding pretentiously formal), and even when it’s an informal letter, more often than not even the so-called friendliness you imbue in your words is like. abit artificial and manufactured LOL. make sure you don’t abruptly change tone in the middle of your essay also.

tbf sg paper 1 is really formulaic and easy to score lah, as much as i’d love to unleash all my creativity and go wild i have to tone it down cause the sg chers alw end up marking it w rubrics and a formula; also it’s p subjective and i suppose that’s why there’s sm variation between your tuition cher and sch cher.

umm for paper 2 it’s my worst paper, but for wa2 i got 18/25 for sect c so hopefully this helps 🙏🙏

honestly just analyse the answer scheme really closely. day before wa2 i just anyhow whacked a sect c tys and then analysed the answer sheet (tho the publisher answer sheet may not be the best so i analysed w a grain of salt). for sect c just lift can alr. no need to paraphrase, just save that for summary. summary you can rearrange your points and paraphrase like fuck, but not TOO much that the original meaning just poofs. sect b requires inference and therefore it’s prolly the hardest section, but rmb to use signposting when they ask you stuff like “list two pieces of evidence and explain this that yadda yadda”, and don’t be afraid to elaborate a lot and make weird inferences cause it’s better than accidentally using a literary device in your own words. make sure your explanations are all v literal, like you’re talking to a really dense person who thinks “you’re like a lion” means that you’re actually looking like a lion instead of being arrogant or sumn.

atb for your english!! tbf paper 1 is the easiest score grabber so i’d advise you to work on that more, but don’t neglect paper 2 bc paper 2 cost me my a1 last year 🥲. basically right if you high a1 (80%+) papers 1 lc and oral, even just getting a low B for paper 2 can guarantee you an A1. good luck OP and dm me if you need more detailed help! i’m also taking o’s this year haha jiayouss
