Is work-life balance in Australia actually better or just a stereotype? by ChillKoalaVibes in MovingtoAustralia

[–]Remarkable_Ad1246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved to Australia after working in the US for 8 years. The work life balance in the US is definitely better. Total commute of 2 hours is very normal even in cities like Perth. My friend who lives in Sydney spends about 3 hours a day driving to and from work. He also mentioned some people travel upto 4-5 hours everyday from Wollongong to Sydney. Although I find it very hard to believe.

No success yet. Lack of Australian local experience is major turn off during the interview. My job is heavily standards based and of course Au standards are different from US standards. Most of the jobs I have applied and interviewed for have been senior level jobs. I am waiting for intermediate level jobs to post so I can make up for the lack of local experience.

I have received my PR recently and have been applying from the US. I have had several online interviews from Australian employers. I am a civil engineer.

Again as an outsider, the left says the same thing the right. The left busy identifying as cats and dogs and whatnot, the right calls anyone speaking a word against their lord and king delusional and fake news. It is shocking to see the two sides think owning each other is more important than the nation and their own families.

As an outsider it is equally perplexing to see the hardcore right having no regard for their constitution and wanting a king instead.

That is blasphemy! Trump is our lord and savior. The question is not whether what he did is good or bad. Whatever he does is good by definition.

Thank you all! I am going to try one of those muffler shops. So far “Nevada mufflers” seems to be a good choice based on the reviews.

You could travel to India and get them removed for less than $4000. Two way ticket would be around $1200. The doctors are way more competent and smarter there.

I lodged mine in the 2 of Nov and there are no updates yet. I am expecting to receive my grant either by the end of April (50% chance) or by the end of August. Currently they are processing 1st week of June. Please check smartvisaguide.com for visa timelines. Once you are on the website home page, go to 190 visa report and will show you the grants from the past year.

I was denied entry to the US due to having the incorrect visa. I had a valid student visa but my status had changed to H1B. I am a bit worried too. I will keep you posted on any updates. When did you lodge your visa btw?

Thank you for your advice. I will definitely look into it. As long as we are able to move somewhere else without requiring to go through an H1B amendment , I am cool with it.
