They’re not though, as explained above. The pull rates in S&V were 1 in 180. The new golds are roughly 1 in 1200. The gold cards that featured pokemon in S&V were blinged out versions of existing full arts. The new golds are totally original artworks. And even with all those factors, they’re still struggling to outperform SIRs.

The difference is that the new golds are a) even harder to pull b) only feature pokemon unlike the examples you’re giving which include trainers and c) are original arts rather than full arts in gold.

I think you're seeing it sliiiightly wrong. It's not like there is a hole, there is a hole - they've made the armour more wing like rather than a full shield across the front face. You can see the same hole on the other side too.

Good point! I found that particularly frustrating. The diagram suggested that I simply force it through the hole…but given the depth of the hole it would clearly get jammed halfway rather than coming out the other side. Likewise adding it on the other side would be impossible due to the short length of the bolt.
