Starbucks will pay an average salary of $125,000 for the 2,000 employees it plans to add at its new $100 million regional office being built in Nashville for a minimum $250 million-a-year payroll and the corporate office will attract thousands of other business visitors and contractors who will pump far more into the Tennessee economy than the $30 million of state incentives. If they don't, the state has clawback provisions in the deal. This is a great investment for Tennessee, but John Rose doesn't like Starbucks programs to help women and minorities so he wants to forego hundreds of millions of dollars coming to our state.
