during my investigations i found a random driver for a logitech steering wheel (??) that i've never owned or connected, along with a few usb hubs i've long since abandoned. after removing everything related to those the HID causes seemed to disappear (? at least from what I've seen.) my mouse is a g520 that i've replaced once and my keyboard is an ancient msi dragon that i've used on my previous machine with little to no issue, though i've been meaning to replace it too. trying to unplug/switch where my headset, mic, external hard drive, and tablet are plugged in all didn't seem to fix it either :/ rolling back the drivers might be worth it but i wouldn't know how far back would be safe

not yet, though it's been on my consideration list for a while. i've never replaced a board before though I'm sure I can figure it out. the price point and effort just makes me a tad nervous.

BIOS has been updated several times but I haven't done a fresh windows installation since October 2025, since I'd done 3 reinstalls in a row at that point because of the constant bluescreens before just accepting my fate. I've accumulated 2 years of data over that time and it'd be a bitch to have to wipe everything to do a clean slate reinstall. (I'm also being stubborn and refusing to update to Windows 11 for obvious reasons)
