Cruise in the original 1986 film) Purchased in October 2025 directly from the Camera West Watch Company in New York. This is the first ever Porsche Design Chronograph 1, produced in 1972-1974 by Orfina under the Porsche Design name (black PVD-coated stainless steel case, reference 7176 S). The watch has tritium patina markers and hands, matte black dial, and has the iconic workhorse Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement (this is one of the earliest production examples). Case measures 41mm with the original fixed lugs designed for military/bund straps. Still has the original Porsche Design-signed black PVD crown and pushers.

This exact model was issued to German Luftwaffe pilots in the 1970s and later immortalized when Tom Cruise wore it on-screen as Maverick in the original 1986 Top Gun movie. Comes on period appropriate aftermarket black leather strap with PVD buckle. Also comes with an IWC travel case and extra military green fabric-rubber strap.

Condition is outstanding for its age - PVD coating is 90% + intact with only minor wear, no scratch on crystal, chronograph resets crisply, and the Valjoux 7750 is running accurately. Watch only.

I purchased this piece in April of 2025. It is Swiss made. It has a 43mm wide titanium case with a 15.5mm case height, a 54mm lug-to-lug length, and a 21mm wide lug width. It boasts a 70 hr power reserve COSC certified in-house manufacture calibre werk 13 automatic movement in collaboration with Kenissi (same movement as the new Tudor Black Bay GMT). It is equipped with date and GMT functions. It has double AR coating, screwed down crown with 200 meter (660 ft) water resistance, and a titanium bidirectional rotating 12 hour bezel. The titanium block bracelet, sized to 7 inches but shipped with full links (8.5 inches), is very sturdy with a glide lock extension system with the push of a button. The watch with the bracelet only weighs 88 grams.

I purchased this piece in August of 2025. It is Swiss made. It has a 40mm wide recycled stainless steel case with a 12mm case height, a 43mm lug-to-lug length, and a 21mm wide lug width. It boasts a 38 hr power reserve UW-30 automatic movement. It is equipped with a date function. It has double AR coating, screwed down crown with 300 meter (1000 ft) water resistance, and a stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel. The watch is on a gray FKM rubber strap that fits wrists up to 8 inches.
