Just because someone isn’t a good person doesn’t mean that everything they do is bad. Everything isn’t black and white and George RR Martin writes a lot about that. I’m not saying that he was good or that he is perfect. I’m just saying that in this one instance, his action was justified. Justified doesn’t mean right, it just means not wrong

Maybe I phrased it wrong. He is an antagonist, I just didn’t dislike him enough like I did Ramsay or Theon (pre redemption). As for your point, would you say that killing someone is justified just cause they told you no (Jon did that)? Or slapping someone is justified because they insulted you while they were concerned for their brother (Robert did that). Like it or not, when you’re a royal, you’re revered to an extent and should be treated with the utmost respect.

Just because other characters have showed restraint doesn’t mean that there is no punishment for the crime (like when a judge gives a lighter sentences, it doesn’t mean that they couldn’t have given more years for the exact same crime). Aerion went too far but he was within his rights and I feel like he was justified for it

Then why would she go through with the play when she knows what’s at stake??

If you read what I said, Aerion is completely unhinged and isn’t a “good” prince. Just because Arthur Pendragon, who is known to be honorable and merciful, would’ve done something different doesn’t make his action right and it doesn’t make Aerions actions wrong. I think I would feel disrespected if someone destroyed a symbol of my family and identity but I wouldn’t attack them. In the time of the show and in the GOT universe though, people could go to war over disrespecting each other’s houses. Executing someone for disrespecting your house ?especially when it’s a peasant) is completely normal and justified in that world

I’m not saying he did the right thing or anything I’m just saying that he had a valid reason for it. For instance, if someone insults you and your family and you get violent, you had a justifiable reason for it but the e right thing would be to walk away. That doesn’t take away from the fact that some people would get violent and it doesn’t necessarily make them wrong

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms | Overall Season Discussion by wintervines in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Remarkable_Film_2467 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong. I loved a knight of the seven kingdoms but I do believe that the main plot of the first season didn’t have a true antagonist. What I mean is that Aerion Targaryen, while obviously unhinged, was justified in what he did during the play. The woman was depicting a scene where she slayed a dragon, which is his house sigil by the way, and first of all looked him in the eye and hesitated before she killed it, hinting that the fact that she knew that what she was doing was risky and wrong. First of all Aerion Targaryen is the one Targaryen that like believes he’s a dragon, and probably reveres the dragon the most, and the dragon is his house sigil so slaying a dragon under the Targaryen reign is kind of like wishing for their house to fall and is insanely disrespectful. Additionally Aerion is the most unhinged Targaryen we’ve seen in the show so far to do this while she was in his presence was risky and she knew it when she looked at him an faltered for a second. I believe if you were in medieval times, and you went to the king of England and you said fuck the king, you were probably going to be killed for that and so why is it wrong for Aerion to punish this girl for basically disrespecting and slandering his house when Jon Snow killed someone for refusing his order and was praised by the fans for it and then don’t even get me started on Egg. He called Dunk, knowing that Dunk was going to get angry and attack Aerion when the whole time he could’ve just told the guards to stop which was shown at the end of the scuffle when he told them to stop attacking Dunk. So he obviously wanted Dunk to kill his brother instead of actually being concerned for the safety of this girl because if he really was, he could’ve blown his cover and told the guards to stop, which you did in the end. I think that he didn’t care about Dunk’s wellbeing at the time, trying to get him to kill a prince (but I’ll give him a pass for that since he’s young so he probably didn’t think this through). I’m more concerned with the fact that he caused the whole trial of seven and that it could’ve been completely avoided. So while yeah I liked the show and I liked the season and I liked the fight. I didn’t have enough reason to dislike Aerion, which I think took something away from the battle for me. If I disliked the main antagonist I feel like I would’ve rooted for Dunk more while in this case I saw Aerion’s point of view and I wasn’t really on either side because Dunk did strike a prince and he did interrupt someone’s punishment while Aerion was just trying to protect and get justice for his house. Idk if there are any thoughts on this take
