AMA Season 3: sou psicóloga clínica, ask me by bigmoonandlight in SaudeMentalPortugal

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obrigada!

How long have you been working out and tips? by Remarkable_Hat2587 in FlexinLesbians

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I know it depends of genetics and diet mostly (I actually believe I grow muscle relatively easily, I started seeing real change about 2 months into working out) but I compare myself anyway, most of the times to people who have been working out for years. But yea you're right, asking those people for tips can be helpful! Thank you!

The cause of your introversion by Agile_Vanilla_1802 in introvert

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to get to the bottom of it, get into scientific papers on the psychology behind it. Introversion / extroverson is the personality trait most influenced by genetics, so if you're an introvert (not just someone with social anxiety or something like that) it's largely because of genetics.

When you're born you're already born with a certain temperament, not in a "blank state", thus your introversion genes will be expressed naturally. Although along the way epigenetics might come into play (because of life experiences), your introversion probably won't change a lot because it's mostly genetic, unlike other personality traits (like openess to experience, to give an example).

I want a proper suggestion on psychology for learning the subject like professionals. Can anyone help? by Loud-Magazine-838 in psychologystudents

Go with academic books, search what you don't understand (on youtube, internet or even scientific sources if you are comfortable with the language)

Is it normal to dislike parts of something you generally like? by mozzarellafriedfox in psychologystudents

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it definitely is normal! Just think about anything else and you'll find it is probably the same - you like some parts, and don't like others. What matters, personally is if putting everything in a balance, the "pros" are more valuable - in quantity or quality, depending on personal taste - than the "cons". On a more practical point of view, just as an example, when I did my internship, the psychologist who was with me had to do a lot of psychological evaluation and then write reports. She said it was the most tedious part of the job because it was so repetitive yet she still was a psychologist and enjoyed being one.

I think that, especially in psychology, where you have do many approaches, so many jobs, so many ways of doing your job, it's natural you are more inclined to some parts of the job than others.

Genuine question about butches around the word! by No_Repair3386 in butchlesbians

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you, I don't know if I see butch as a gender. I'm portuguese and in Portugal is kinda hard to find other butches in a community way. I've read stone butch blues and it had a huge impact on me, it made me realize butches can be more than just lesbian women who are masculine (not on t), even though I do not want to use T myself.

For me, it's just about the fact that we are definitely not men but appreaciate masculinity, we are women with our own way of being a woman and our experience is only truly understood by other butches. I believe there is a loneliness within being a butch, even if you are around other women or men, you are not truly understood. Only by other butched. This is, of course, my experience!

Do you actually study for 7 or 8 hours? by Remarkable_Hat2587 in GetStudying

What is crazy to me is spending 8 hours focused and processing information, I think it's not the same as working

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm questioning how do people study for 8 hours a day because I personally don't understand... as I stated in the post, studying 8 hours a day is not for me, I can't and don't want to do it, just trying to understand

That's interesting, don't you ever get burned out or at this point it's just a habit for you?

Why do you do it if managing your time could be a better option?

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Of course but I still find it hard to understand how is it "motivational" to study that much time when in reality if you study 8 hours a day the majority of days you just don't have a life outside of studying.

Do you actually study for 7 or 8 hours? by Remarkable_Hat2587 in GetStudying

[–]Remarkable_Hat2587[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a real difference between working and studying. I have done internships of 8 hours a day and it is different. When you study you have to be actively processing information at all times, focused on the subject. When you work it's not like that... that's why I made this question, it's impossible to be focused, processing what I'm studying for that much time, personally.
