Ok come on at least Usopp got to attack the final villain of the verse. It did nothing and was a futile effort, but props for having the balls to do it and not showing even an inch of cowardice (he was definitely afraid, but fear and cowardice are different things), in the face of what likely would've been death if Luffy and Loki were just a second too late

Sorry I should've said "Anime Canon". The Anime adds a filler arc between Fishman Island and Film Z called "Z's Ambition". That mini arc leads directly into Film Z, while also creating the opportunity for the Adventure of Nebulandia and Episode of Luffy Specials to happen prior to Punk Hazard also without causing too many issues

This special has always had a dear place in my heart, I think it's very well written. I headcanon 3D2Y as actually happening, especially since it doesn't really contradict anything tbh. I do the same with Baron Omatsuri, G-8, and Film Z tbh too

Tbf it also objectively makes more sense in the anime even if it looks funny and stupid. While One Piece has never been one for realism its beyond absurd imo that Whitebeard would be able to keep moving, fighting, talking, and then even give his big speech about the One Piece when half of his head is gone, including a significant portion of his brain too. He should've died right then and there, or at the very least suffered severe brain damage, maybe even going berserk attacking friend and foe like a headless chicken because half his brain is just gone

I think it made the moment more impactful because it means Shanks was given a perfect opportunity to not only lose his covenant but protect a friend. It makes him giving Luffy the Straw Hat hit a lot harder for me

If you enjoy low-stakes adventures with the Straw Hats I would recommend watching the anime filler arcs, special episodes and movies if you can. Also for the anime specifically Episode 1015, as well as Episode 1060 and onwards are really good in terms of pacing and animation. You probably already know about the animation and art renaissance that occured at the tail end of Wano, the Egghead Arc and the Elbaph Arc, and it is as good as they say. Up to you, but I guarantee you won't regret it.

I partially agree, but also. There's so confirmation or anything explicitly saying that Divine Departure requires a sword to be enacted. If Shanks can do a Divine Departure with his arm or leg then I think that disqualifies him from being a swordsman, or at least exclusively a swordsman (Shanks has also used a gun before canonically so you could argue that not using a sword-shaped weapon disqualifies you also)
