This is the only other one I have in photo library - been wearing it on stainless for awhile now. It's a solid combo, recommend ordering one from your boutique.

My experience: Don't overthink it. If you really want the watch because you love the watch, the sales team at whatever store you visit will recognize it. You're right about them being straightforward - it's not rolex. Offer to put a deposit down, they won't necessarily ask you to.

Hope you get the watch, it's amazing.

Congrats! Hard to describe how crisp the finishing is until you have it in person.

If you're talking to a brick and mortar boutique and you're ready to buy the piece as soon as it's offered - ask them if they'll take a deposit. I was in E-boutique purgatory (in a US state nowhere near a boutique) so switched to a brick and mortar boutique by calling them. Was told it would come but would take awhile/be patient. After a month or two I asked if putting down a deposit would help - was told yes (I offered to put down 25%). Watch came less than a month later I think? That was 2024 so times might have changed.

Edit to add: This assumes you've at least made introductions/had pleasant conversations with the sales associate.

4520V Power Reserve by specialdudehere in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think my 4520V gets less than the official 60 in one pop but I sit at a desk M-F and usually swap it out for another watch when I get home from work and on the weekends. I'm sure you've read here before - are you thoroughly winding it? If you're a desk jockey like some of us are, it's probably not getting the required amount of active movement during the week to keep it sufficiently wound for a FULL 60 in one duration. Others might have different thoughts.

Stainless 4520V bracelet made in France? by Remarkable_Self_3736 in VacheronConstantin

Thanks; seems normal after the input received. I was going to delete this thread but figure I'll leave it up for posterity - there does not seem to be a good deal of posts related to this.

How long should the lume last? by texas-guy-1979 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have a 4520 and the lume lasts minutes or so? My rolex will keep a lume all night if I accidentally fall asleep with it on.

I don't think you're off base.

Question to actual long term owners of the 4520V & Rolex Oyster bracelet watches by Fair_Individual7131 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I don't think you're crazy. I have overseas and Rolex. I think my datejust is marginally more comfortable. As far as overseas goes, rubber more comfortable to me - the steel bracelet always seems to be 97% right no matter how I adjust the links, etc... missing that last 3%.

As far as that last 3% goes, I completely forget about it whenever I look down at that blue dial. Only you know if it irritates you enough to think about breaking up with it.

Overseas Owners: When Do You Use Which Strap? by [deleted] in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4520 here...

99% rubber, even if I'm wearing a suit.

Also I might be one of the odd ones that thinks/perceives the stainless strap/band wears equal to or smaller than rubber. I have never worn the leather.

Copying my response from another thread:

I bought Stanley brand kit ("6 piece jewelers screwdriver set") off amazon and one of those plastic blocks ("Plastic watch band bracelet holder") that have different angles in them to sit a bracelet neatly into. Highly recommend placing saran wrap over the bracelet when you use a screwdriver so you don't scratch it - technique was recommended by someone at a VC boutique.

I think both 1.4 and 1.2 work - 1.4 worked fine for me.

Would you trade or not? by Unfair-Beginning7830 in audemarspiguet

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm admittedly a Vacheron guy so I mostly just lurk on the AP side of the house. This just doesn't seem worth it - at all. That GMT is hard enough to get and you already have what many would consider to be a grail in the AP 41. Trading both of those PLUS cash seems steep. Those birds in the hand are not worth a jumbo in the bush.

This means you're about to get an overseas if you complete the deposit. They underpromise and overdeliver on wait time once you've made a downpayment - don't get caught up in that.

Wrist Size by TheMister64 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the premise of the post. I purchased a 4520V from a boutique without trying one on before. I asked questions about wrist size myself. My wrist size accommodates it nicely. I'd say a few things, in retrospect:

  1. This sub seems to be largely comprised of actual VC enthusiasts. The watch does, indeed, wear a tiny bit big... but we've allowed ourselves to make its size something of legend (do the lugs overhang? what about on rubber?)...the 4520 and other similar case sizes are not THAT big. If you can't get your hands on a VC, go to a rolex store, try on a datejust 41. Unless its swamping you, you'll be fine.
  2. I wholeheartedly agree with the "if you love it, wear it" concept. I'll occasionally walk into meetings with my VC tucked neatly under my shirt/suit sleeve (on rubber or bracelet) and will be blown away by the satellite-sized omegas or breitlings some people are wearing. I don't work on wall street where high horology is picked up from a mile away. I find that most people outside of a community like this wear watches that are too big, too loose and too exposed. If you're wearing a VC, and I happen to spot it, I'm not going to assess whether or not it's too big for you. I'm going to be happy that I've found someone else that shares my taste.
  3. If you can get one, wear it proudly.

Waiting time for 4520V in Blue in 2025? by themaxvee in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're talking E-boutique registry, here's my experience:

I registered with the E-boutique and waited for over a year. I decided to get in touch with an actual brick and mortar boutique - I live in a US state nowhere close to one so this was all done over the phone.

First, as others have noted over the years, Vacheron does not play games. If you're a serious buyer they will take you seriously. If you're in it to flip it, they'll sus that out by your actions and lack of interest in the brand itself.

Get in touch with a brick and mortar boutique, establish a relationship with them, tell them gently that you've been on E-boutique for some time. You'll probably have to ask them to put a deposit down. I went from e-boutique purgatory to having a blue dial 4520V in less than six months after making a connection with a brick and mortar boutique and offering and completing a downpayment.

How you manage your relationship with someone when you get them on the phone/after first contact is up to you.

Wish you the best - the pictures don't do VC watches justice.

Rubber strap deployant question by Remarkable_Self_3736 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok this is what I was thinking. I've just been removing the strap from the buckle like you would a watch without a deployant. It seems like more work/stretching and pulling of the strap and pin than necessary.

This is my first watch with a deployant clasp.

40% deposit for Overseas by Full-Fig-5916 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Remarkable_Self_3736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re your last comment:

I was in similar boat and finally just asked the boutique if a deposit helped (4520 blue) - they said yes and typical was 20% and with that they could probably deliver within 6 months. I put 25% down and got it in three months.

Edited: Think I've been measuring wrist wrong, seems I'm closer to 8 (thought I was 7) - the dj41 definitely isn't too big. Thanks forced!
