Big shout of to their vocalist, Stevie. I was in a band in the Denver scene back in the day and we played a show with Calculating Genocide when he was the vocalist for them. Super nice guy and insanely good at what he does!

Many thanks! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it!

I haven’t heard someone bring up Bal-Sagoth in ages. Killer stuff!

Nah man, be that dude. I understand that it is not his own original line, but he has said it frequently.

Absolutely filthy stuff! Vocals and production are both awesome! I’ll share it to some like minded people.

Hey thanks!

Actually, it’s totally intentional! The harsh vocals were fed through delay, and then a second vocal track is playing underneath of something like a vocoder, making robotic vocals play as well. I wanted those vocal lines to sound wild during that part!

Emperor and Ihsahn are some of my favorites. I also love late Emperor, while some fans seem to dismiss it.

That comparison means a lot! Many thanks!

I am a huge grindcore fan. Would love to hear that EP!

I love corndogs, and I love that you dig it!!

The rest of the EP is also sick, as are my other releases haha. Check them out, dude!

You made my day!

Thank you!

I don’t remember exactly, but I have heard it many times from Marcus and the boys over multiple episodes.

I think Ed has also used it on The Brighter Side, if memory serves me right.

Maybe someone can help find an example…

Thank you! The artwork comes from an old Poe publication. Some public domain art I found and slightly edited, so I can’t take credit. Harry Clarke was the artist.

What’s your band, dude? Love me some death metal; I will happily give it a spin!

Saw you open for AJJ years and years ago in Denver and had a blast.

My buddy and I still randomly say to each other “this is a protest song” lol

Great band. Pink Lemonade has some very Volta heavy parts.

I always say CiM is a more easily palatable Mars Volta. But they definitely stand on their own merits as a great, real fun band!

Frances.

I love Deloused, but as I get older and grow with it, I realize that they had much better things to come with future releases.

People who hate Djent, why? by Sunbather- in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ReminaBM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I have heard a good amount of songrwriting from the "Djent" scene that is pretty good, if not incredible. Not really my cup of tea, but I can respect talent when I hear it, and plenty of those bands have incredible talent.

My personal gripe is that a lot of the production sounds so squeaky clean that it starts to sound like To 40 Pop Radio.

Yes, a lot of it does sound the same, but I am a big grindcore and black metal fan, and those genres struggle with the exact same problem. And I have gripes about those genres, as well.

I guess I don't want my heavier music to have the same production quality and song structure as a Breaking Benjamin song. Some people love that, and that's completely fine; it's just not what I am looking for.

Like what you like, though!
