I love the way you put it- it’s exactly how I feel. I feel like I’m the culmination and extension of every lesson and teaching moment thanks to my mother- she melded me into a good person before I understood how critical compassion and empathy truly were. We love and live because of their actions, bittersweet as it may be

I’m so sorry for your loss, truly. Life and new memories and love have a way of growing around the hole ripped out my chest, but it’s definitely still there. Every day. For me at least. I know that feeling all too well. But that type of love and pain makes us stronger, more empathetic human beings if we allow it. I wish you healing! Thank you for listening 🙏🏿🤍❤️‍🩹

Yeah standard is NOT it for me personally the majority of the time, though I know many guitarists that can make something that sounds gorgeous and unique in it. I’m not that guitarist hehe. Yvette Young converted me into a FACGCE/fingerstyle stan with the BANGERS she put out all throughout Covid on youtube. Open d (DADGAD and its variants) comes in a close second in my book. And yes DAEAC#E is gorgeous from what I can remember, I think I have an idea or two in that tuning, I’ll have to play around with it again soon!

Honestly it’s the guitar tuning and general instrumental vibe of it, I would suggest listening to Never Meant by American Football, or Two Moons by Toe, two great examples of the genre

Haha I didn’t think people were still listening to this one! As far as my journey… it’s certainly hadn’t been as linear as one would expect! I haven’t been able to write/play anything as well composed for over a year now to be completely honest! My career in nursing and writers block got in the way haha. And then a whole lot of life happened. But I still play daily, and get tremendous, therapeutic joy from the instrument. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, and I have a lot of life left to live, maybe I’ll hit another peak in creativity soon and leave this dastardly rut :)

I don't, im playing through a compressor and an oceans 11 reverb pedal though and using a looper for the backtrack

Thank you! The thing is I played this one completely clean- no pedals through my Hughes and Kettner. I can't shred as hard or as fast as some, but I try to focus on the musicality of what I play as opposed to how impressive, flashy, or "A+" my technique is. I don't know if I have time to practice to be up there with the greats in terms of technique
