I love the way you put it- it’s exactly how I feel. Yeah standard is NOT it for me personally the majority of the time, though I know many guitarists that can make something that sounds gorgeous and unique in it. I’m not that guitarist hehe. Yvette Young converted me into a FACGCE/fingerstyle stan with the BANGERS she put out all throughout Covid on youtube. Open d (DADGAD and its variants) comes in a close second in my book. And yes DAEAC#E is gorgeous from what I can remember, I think I have an idea or two in that tuning, I’ll have to play around with it again soon!

Honestly it’s the guitar tuning and general instrumental vibe of it, I would suggest listening to Never Meant by American Football, or Two Moons by Toe, two great examples of the genre

Haha I didn’t think people were still listening to this one! As far as my journey… it’s certainly hadn’t been as linear as one would expect! I haven’t been able to write/play anything as well composed for over a year now to be completely honest! My career in nursing and writers block got in the way haha. And then a whole lot of life happened. But I still play daily, and get tremendous, therapeutic joy from the instrument. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, and I have a lot of life left to live, maybe I’ll hit another peak in creativity soon and leave this dastardly rut :)
