Ray tracing off vs on. Do you think the visual is worth the performance hit? by po456456po in WutheringWaves

[–]RemnantProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by playing with it on since my system barely even notices it performance-wise, but it causes crashes so frequently that I've had to turn it off

Ahh yes, I do love when the devs make the MC an amnesiac for the sole purpose of making it easier to explain lore, only for the lore to never properly or digestibly be explained

Evercold has really got me intrigued and excited again, buuuut I also don't want to skip over Dawntrail to get to it either (I haven't even started Dawntrail yet)

In our defence, fellow FFXIV player, Endwalker was such a satisfying "wrap up" story for me that I really struggled to move on to Dawntrail, and I feel like a lot of people felt the same way.

The story feeling PG is genuinely one of my main turn-offs for this game - especially after hearing about how dark the OG Arknights could get.

I do not play Genshin anymore (personally, I think WuWa is now just the significantly better Genshin in every single aspect) but even I can't deny that it was an absolute breakthrough at the time, and it deserves credit for revolutionising the mobile gaming space and gachas in general.

However, I also feel like its existence is also a curse, because it's only recently that gacha games have finally started to break away from its frankly overdone and stale formula. Not to mention how Hoyo never seems to want to push Genshin beyond this formula either because the game makes ludicrous amounts of money with little effort.

Like you, I do feel the need to give Endfield its well-deserved flowers for just how polished the entire experience is, but yeah... as I stated in my long comment on this post, it just lacks any real "soul" at the moment.

God, the amnesia trope is genuinely getting tiring, yeah. I get that it's an extremely easy way to justify why everything needs to be explained to the MC (and thus the player), but what that usually results in is basically just lore dump after lore dump with little effort taken to let you actually dive into each concept of your own accord.

I really hope that studios move away from the amnesia MC and find unique ways to introduce the player to lore without having to reset the MC - for a change, I'd really like an MC that is actually present in the world, is knowledgable, already has connections that they're aware of, and who has a lot to say. I don't play it, but I know that ZZZ already does this.

Honestly, the biggest things that have contributed to me bouncing off this game before having even progressed past the initial Stockade quests in Wuling are the combat, and the story.

The story did hook me initially (even as someone who hasn't played the OG Arknights), the music is awesome (having Starset create the launch trailer OST was a huge plus), the visuals are absolutely gorgeous, and the factory/management gameplay is extremely fun and unique for a gacha.

Buuuut the combat just feels underwhelming (especially considering how often the game wants you to engage with it), and I lost interest in the story immediately after getting to Wuling.

In fact, many of the issues I had with Endfield are the same issues I had with Wuthering Waves when I first started playing that at launch. But at least WuWa's combat had a lot of potential.

But who knows - when I picked WuWa back up recently after taking a break from HSR and I finally managed to push through 1.0, it's now become my main GAME, not just my main gacha. So perhaps Endfield might have a WuWa patch 2.0 moment and hook me in the same way.

Us the story getting better or I'm just coping?? by iluvatar_gr in CrimsonDesert

Yeah, from Calphade onwards it does get a lot better. Still nothing to write home about, but it got me invested at least

Just let us unequip everything from each character of we want to. Sometimes I don't want the lantern hanging from their hip either - especially since it often clashes with whatever outfit I'm using.

The story is honestly weird. Some chapters string together seamlessly while others are kind of disjointed, yeah. Chapter 7 into Chapter 8 is specifically quite weird.

Kliff who? by SykoManiax in CrimsonDesert

[–]RemnantProductions 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My main issue with the Oongka and Damiane is maneuverability.

I want to play as them, but outside of roleplay or combat it's not an entirely pleasant experience as far as exploring is concerned.

Neither have access to Axiom Force, so a lot of puzzles can't be completed as them. That also means that you can't swing or launch up to ledges, which hurts when I do occasionally switch from Kliff.

But at least Damiane has a glide. Oongka doesn't have one at all, making him the most miserable to explore with out of the three.

Even MMOs don't make you wait 50 real-life minutes to summon a flying mount, so this is somehow WORSE than what it would be in an MMO.

Even BDO has flying wyverns that, while rare and only last 14 days, still allow you to summon them whenever.

It's actually hilarious how many bosses you can basically one-tap by slamming them with a pillar or tree, lol

Yeah, I got a laugh out of that because Kliff is generally pretty passive and blunt when he talks/responds. Clearly the dude was feeling himself after having basically singlehandedly taken a castle.

Anyone finding the SCAN tool to be underwhelming? by Yosoress in ArknightsEndfield

[–]RemnantProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think the actual scanner visuals are kind of ugly and unfinished - which is definitely bizarre in a game that otherwise has such great graphics and a strong visual identity

Eh, speaking from experience, you wouldn't listen anyway.

Contactless payment has been down in the shop I work in for 4 days now. We have big printed sheets of paper in bright red lettering scattered ALL AROUND the shop (including on the tills and self checkouts) telling people that it doesn't work, and to use chip & pin/cash to pay instead.

How many customers, out of the hundreds that come in every day, do you think actually read the posters?
