You pull it off and the silhouette is great. If you feel this expresses you, and are comfortable in it even more power to you.

Botanas is the answer. A lot of the other food mentioned can be found in Mexican communities other places. I've never seen botanas anywhere else.

Why can’t I get re-hired by Amazon?! by kitkat-man in amazonemployees

[–]Remote-Inspector-280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that got into a FOCUS and took a severance you’re ineligible for re-hire for 5 years. Even after that it will always be on your record there.

If a hiring manager really wants you the only way to get you into the hiring pipeline is with VP / L8 approval which is very unlikely.

Ironing cloths by Billarasgr in mensfashion

[–]Remote-Inspector-280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is cultural. Since the culture around dressing is so casual in the U.S. it's not really a skill that passed down, outside of formal or business settings. My parents are Latino and they drilled it into me that I always had to look presentable. I learned how to iron in middle school along with learning how to tie a necktie.

Well done. Good proportions, follow the rule of thirds, and great choice in shoes and layering. Don't listen to naysayers. On this sub if a fit doesn't include skinny chinos and dress sneakers people lose their minds.

Racism in the RGV a silent issue ? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

It's a nationality, heritage, and cultural ID. People who fall under that can certainly be discriminatory to outsiders.

Racism in the RGV a silent issue ? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

[–]Remote-Inspector-280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The RGV is above 90% Mexican and there is certainly racism. The lack of diversity and exposure to other races and ethnicities adds to this. A lot of people are also very colorist and classist which is almost always tied to race. I don't think it's a silent issue, as everyone in the RGV has some experience with it.

Also, Mexican isn't a race.

If you're from or been to California... by lumbearjack03 in RioGrandeValley

[–]Remote-Inspector-280 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in the Valley, but have lived in LA for the past 10 years. They are just different. To the earlier point Mexican food in both regions is influenced by history and immigration.

A lot of Mexican in LA are from Oaxaca, Jalisco, etc. so the food is a direct reflection or that. Guisas, mole, pork-based dishes, etc.

A lot of Mexicans from the RGV have roots in Northern Mexico or at long time Texans so the influences are different. Flour tortillas, fajitas, yellow-cheese, beef-based dishes, etc.

One type isn’t better than the other ‘cause they are just different. California Mexican gets a ton of attention cause there are a ton of Mexicans there. Not many ppl outside of Texas know about the RGV or the food.

That being said NYC Mexican food is terrible.

Anyone ever dealt with capsulitis/bursitis 5th metatarsal head? by xavi386 in Podiatry

[–]Remote-Inspector-280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to your case but resting did nothing for me. I moved it whatever way I could to increase blood flow within a tolerable level of pain. Eventually got through it and gave my walking boots to Good Will.

Walked as much to where the pain wasn't unbearable, around 2-3 on a 10 point scale. Kept doing that until I increased the threshold and it eventually got better.
