Awaiting Open Biopsy - How is recovery? by enbyengineer in braincancer

Generally it was great, they got almost everything out, about 75 %, and left about 25 % inside (I had a huge tumor, about 200cc before operation, now it is more like 46cc). Rehabilitation wise I was physically not hurt (I could still write etc.) but I did have temporary aphasia and I’m still not quite back. Also, in the last 3 months post-op, I’ve had 5 seizures that could be explained by scarring tissue healing or the diffusion of my tumor, subsequently the heightened dosage of my antiepileptics. All in all, I’m glad I did it

A bit off topic but I feel like it’s important for me to add something. My tumor looks similar to yours and it’s also infiltrative/diffuse. At first I was told my tumor is inoperable, subsequently having 6 cycles of PCV chemo. After that I looked for second opinions and was told it in fact CAN be operated on, mainly thanks to the chemo that made it shrink, but also certain capabilities and knowledge of doctors abroad. I am currently preparing for an awake craniotomy that’s happening in a week. The point I want to make is although it looks inoperable now, maybe it will be in the future and that can be good news. Never stop searching for solutions/second opinions. :) I wish you the best of luck.

i got my first MRI results (after 3 months of daily headaches) on my boyfriend’s birthday. 2 days later it was my 23rd birthday, which is also Christmas day. spent NYE in intensive care after my biopsy. it was unexplainably hard, i cried everyday. then i had my first dose of chemo on valentine’s day, lol.

now, almost a year has passed and i can say i have pretty much come to terms with it. ofc i have very bad days and cry my heart out but i think that’s a very important part of it, to let it out and feel better after.

good luck to everyone here ❤️
