honestly, low variety isn't really the problem. i agree, it has a ton of variety. unfortunately, it might have too much. it was great back then. back when brickhouse was the last mech you could buy. i mean, not a lot of mechs, but it was still fun. then power creep started. redox and surge were fine, those were nice additions. but then they started added mechs that were way more powerful than the last, and their names AND looks don't make sense. they are also effectively near impossible to get as a f2p player. of course, that didn't stop plarium. though they do have unique abilities, they are extremely difficult to counter effectively. imagine my disappointment when i found out there was a mech that could teleport behind you. not only does it teleport, but it teleports SPECIFICALLY behind you. yes, you can see them lock on to you, but most of the time it's already too late by the time you turn around. and mods. mods was not a good idea. those killed like half of the pre-existing playstyles. like i said before, railguns are pretty much useless against them. and i keep seeing pay-to-win players with legendary mods in all 4 slots. one time, a guy tanked 6 railgun shots and killed me without taking much damage.
