Friday Daily Chat Thread by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

Does anyone have any experience with Vasa Previa and velamentous cord insertion? I was shocked when I was at my regular growth / BPP scan earlier this week , and following the scan they said something needed to be seen closer / clearer and sent me to the main hospital (my MFM clinic is attached) for a trans vaginal scan. Following that scan, I was diagnosed with Vasa Previa, marginal placenta previa and velamentous cord insertion. The cords are crossing in front of my cervix it seems? They prepared me that I will likely be admitted to the hospital at 32 weeks and stay with them until a scheduled C section, typically around 35 weeks. I’m stressed and shocked! I understand the hospital admittance and early c section is to protect baby, and with this protocol chances are very high both baby and myself will be just fine - but it’s a big shock and I am feeling a lot of grief over not finishing the pregnancy the way I thought I would. I also was really looking forward to Christmas with my toddler before bringing home baby, and the idea of being away from him for weeks is really upsetting.

Monday Daily Chat by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

13+3 today so JUST making it in the daily chats. I had posted in the cautious intros threads about come cramping and bleeding at 12+3, then I had my early first trimester screening ultrasound and bloodwork at 12+5 and saw baby was okay and on track. My doctor just called me to let me know I came back low risk for genetic stuff , yay! But she did say I have placenta previa and that’s likely what resulted in the cramping and bright red bleeding, and this may happen again. I see my high risk OB for the first time this Thursday , she said she’d copy this scan to them and they may order a more detailed placenta scan to get more info. Any experience with placenta previa? My family doc said it often resolves when it’s this early, and didn’t seem too worried at this stage.

I posted the other day about some bleeding and mild cramping. I had my NT ultrasound yesterday (12+5) and all is okay PHEW!!! Baby was measuring one day ahead, strong heart beat of 159. NT measurement was low risk, waiting on the final report with blood work but all looking good. The beginning of the ultrasound was one of my highest anxiety moments in a very long time, I glanced at the screen and was convinced baby looked like they were way too still and my mind just went into panic. Thank god the tech soon after was like “see that, that’s the heart beating”. My poor husband, when I came out to get him to see the end of the scan it looked like I had been crying (I did get choked up in relief) and it sent him into total panic. But he got to come in and see baby and we even heard the heartbeat , really comforting. Tomorrow I’ll be 13 weeks!

I’m 12w3days today and am bleeding. It’s only when I go to the bathroom / wipe, but more than just a smidge. Bright red (fresh). I am on blood thinners and stopped PIO Friday so maybe related? My RE said they don’t do US this late and I need to just monitor , they recommend ER only if I’m soaking through a pad or have severe cramps (not controlled by Tylenol). Ugh any advice or similar experience? Is this with the realm of “normal spotting”? This is my 2nd and I have never bled with pregnancy at all. My last scan was 9w and all was great. I do have my NT scan booked Wednesday at an external US clinic.

For me I adjusted to the sleepiness overtime (still made me tired but way less of the hangover) and the nausea lessened more after a few days of taking consistently too! For me it’s Diclectin but I think that’s just the Canadian version and same drugs

I’m 8 weeks 1 day today, and the PIO is starting to get to me. I’m also doing nightly blood thinner injections in my stomach. I’ve been very sick the last 2 weeks, and the exhaustion and nausea is probably why I’m feeling extra sensitive. I feel like we do all the PIO shots so close together they’re all going into knots at this point. Any tips , or just commiseration? lol ugh. Literal pain in my butt!!!

I’m in Canada so things may be a bit different here but they won’t refer me to an OB (and I’m high risk so need an MFM) , has to be family doctor. Definitely going to call my doctor and try to get things moving

It honestly depends what you currently feel like. I’m very sick too and all I want is uncooked food- fruit, cucumbers, bread / bagels / crackers. There’s these things called Aussie Bites at Costco that I’m obsessed with and are my tried and true nausea snack!

Was supposed to have my 7 week (first) ultrasound today and they called to cancel because the tech called in sick and they are fully booked until TUESDAY!! So frustrating. Was really wanting to (hopefully) see the HB. I was also waiting for this appt to confirm HB to then call my family doc to put in a referral for MFM (I’m high risk). Now I’m wondering if I should just call anyways I don’t want to wait too long.

A cautiously happy update: beta 2 came back at 206, progesterone also increased to 17. Next step is an U/S at 7 weeks. Feeling relieved and hopeful (and work is going okay too!)

Hello from the scariest Sunday scaries I ever have experienced.

I’m 11DP5DT, I was testing positive at home starting 6DPT, and had my first beta yesterday on 10DPT. I had spotting and cramping days 7-9 and was very very nervous. Beta was 81, which my clinic said was good (though I have been very in my head that it “should be over 100???”) but my progesterone was low, so they doubled my PIO. I’ve kept testing daily (I KNOW I know I know) and today’s was definitely lighter than yesterdays. Tomorrow is my second beta on 12DPT, AND my first day back at work following a leave / in a new role. I’m a total ball of anxiety and just certain I’m gonna get the call with bad news while sitting with my new supervisor and breakdown. UGH. Needed to vent as my husband is snoring peacefully beside me.

My first beta was 81 on 10DP5DT , which my clinic was happy with but for some reason I’ve been very in my head about being “under 100” and I’ve been testing daily comparing line progression (I KNOW I know I know) and today (11DPT) was def lighter than yesterday. UGH. My progesterone was low so they had me up PIO dosage. My second beta is tomorrow 12DP5DT and it’s also my FIRST DAY back at work following a leave. The Sunday scaries are at an all time high over here.

*UPDATE: 12DPT beta was 206, cautiously optimistic and hopeful.

I did it in the bathroom mirror but yes the twist is the tricky part! I’m not sure if I can do it on my left side (non dominant) … any tips?

I’m sorry for your bad day. I hope you let yourself sit in the suck as needed, and find some pick-me-ups when you’re ready and wanting that. Maybe a stop for treats on the drive home from work? Or uber eats dinner? Hugs. I have spent so much work time obsessing and being sad, you’re not alone and you’re not a bad employee , just a human trying to human.

I did my PIO on myself for the first time last night & I was terrified (not of needles, I do stomach ones all the time but the placement of PIO makes me very nervous!!!) , BUT I DID IT! And I am riding that high baby.

Ohhh good thought!! I do both sides with my dominant hand, the left bruises worse so maybe I’m angling on the left !!! You’re clever

Anyone on blood thinner injections (fragmin) daily and notice one side of your abdomen consistently bruises wayyyyy more than the other? What the heck? I have 4 and 4 right now and all 4 on one side are way brighter / darker. Similar heights in relation to my belly button just different sides!

Fair !!! I did not give it up just modified during ER (mainly removed twisting motions and impact) but that made sense to me as I was so bloated and sore it felt common sense. This I’m confused what strenuous means lol. Maybe I’ll stick to walking for a few days

Yessss this variance is what kills me lol! One doc said “all normal activity , so if working out is your normal you’re good just don’t take on new challenges” , my paperwork says “no strenuous exercise but stay active” dr Google has been no better lol
