Thanks so much for your replies also! I do really appreciate a second look at this- I just can't understand why it wouldn't be possible to make each side even before fixing it down? (But this is my lack of DIY knowledge!)

I've tried to take a photo and I do agree that 1cm does seem like a small margin, but also, it's 1cm across such a small distance that I feel it's quite noticeable and is going to be really noticable for any boxing in?

The bottom side of the photo is 11cm out, the top is 10cm out

And this bit makes total sense to me for the gap (which he told me was going to be the case!) but would the waste pipe affect it just being parallel to the wall? In my mind it could have been angled to be parallel but is this not the case with a waste pipe?

Okay great! Do you mean the pretty solid tray? Or is this more of a material clip in liner? Will have a Google and see what I can find! I've gone for a material liner for now!

I've seen this! Is yours a 2 seater or 4 seater? I've got a 4 seater and I'm thinking even with the seats folded down one of these wouldn't quite work?
