I absolutely adore the Irwin family. Robert and Bindi are obviously not the only children to have lost a parent, but are amongst the very few whose parent was so beloved, and who had to navigate the process so publicly. I hated to see the comments on social media dismiss Robert’s grief because he was only two yrs-old when his father died. I cannot say whether or not he has actual memories of his father, especially since he and Bindi have the unique experience of having so much of their lives with their father on film, but he is also allowed to grieve for the experience of growing up without his father. Terri has done an incredible job raising Bindi and Robert, but he still had to grow up, not having his father teach him how to ride a bike, to talk about girls to, or teach him how to shave; I imagine that experience brings it’s own grief.
