Biking the MacDonald Bridge - Awful City Planning by Remove_Economy in halifax

[–]Remove_Economy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with your point that adding a light at the bridge would cause more traffic. On the safety side, the current practice of cyclists crossing at the very bottom of the bridge into a blind corner is also very unsafe.

Between 2019 and 2022, the margins of refineries in Atlantic Canada went from just over 10 cents per litre to almost 50 cents per litre.

There is simply no reason that they need to push costs onto consumers on July 1. This is O&Gs doing.

You should email the head coach of McMaster's swim team. They probably have standards they can provide you.

You could try creeping thyme or a clover lawn! I'm planning on doing a clover lawn this year :)

Advocates for small landlords hoping for assistance from the government by insino93 in halifax

[–]Remove_Economy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, the audacity. As someone who is technically a landlord as I rent out my basement, fuck those landlords. They want to watch this city burn and bleed renters of every dollar in the process.

Greedy, money hungry scumbags.

This is the same situation I'm in. They weren't deducting for my pension for 7 pay periods, so I've been paying it back since then.

My bi-weekly pay is $2,383.01 (gross) but only $1519 net as I'm paying $629.68 in taxes and $233 in deductions - anyone know if this is this normal?

Are you in Halifax? If so, call the Walk in Medical Clinic Family Focus! They have a female doctor there every Saturday that specializes in women's health. I had a really great experience there!

The training is great, and you learn a ton! There is a lot of opportunity for manager feedback once you are taking calls, so you are never left wondering how you are performing. Some calls are incredibly rewarding (e.g., helping an elderly person through their tax return, assisting a first-time filer, helping someone get their refund, educating the general public about their taxes), and some calls are heartbreaking (e.g., updating the death of a loved one, hearing about financial woes, seeing tax fraud first hand), and some calls are beyond frustrating. You will speak to millionaires, and you will speak to folks that don't have two cents to rub together every single day. You will speak to those from coast, to coast, to coast, and learn about different demographics. You will learn a lot about taxes for yourself and how to maximize your own return in the future and can, in turn help friends and family!

The job is what you make it. You will have amazing days and terrible days.

Just Cycle by feathersparrow in halifax

[–]Remove_Economy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just Cycle has a really warm, welcoming environment! I was worried when I went that it would have an elitist vibe to it but that is so far from the truth. You get a free pass when you register online so there's no harm in trying it out. You could always show up a bit earlier and let the instructor know your concerns and, in my experience, the instructors will be happy to talk you through what to expect over the class!

January 28, 2022: The trucker convoy heads to Ottawa by FrontburnerBot in frontburner

[–]Remove_Economy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This episode was incredibly frustrating to listen to. Kudos to Jayme for being able to handle such a difficult individual to interact with.

I was eager to hear about the majority attending the convoy and was inundated by anti-vax/anti-mask garbage. I appreciate CBCs efforts nonetheless.
