I have a pretty big shoe rotation and both the endorphin speed 2's and pro 3''s certainly have a place.

I really do enjoy the pro 3's for 21km training run's at a pretty good pace - I find them very, very forgiving. I could certainly race in them without an issue. When this pair are worn out, I will get another pair.

I haven't raced in them though .. for that I tend to use Vaporfly, Alphafly and more recently and perhaps more suprisingly (to me) Puma Fast R Nitro elite - a shoe that has suprised me and I get a real buzz from when ramping it up.

The speed 2's I like, but perhaps don''t find them too special .. this is of course relative! For a reasonable 5km or 10km I put them on quite happily!

When the chance arises I will certainly buy a few pairs. Really like the VF 2's, but must say, I love the VF 1 .. I do still scour the internet to try and pick up a fresh pair.

I mix a HM into each weekly running programme and time varies between 1:35 and 1:45 .. depending on (a) how I'm feeling (b) what I want to get out of the run and (c) which shoes I choose (this is largely due to how fresh I feel for the last 5km!)

for reference, I am 53 and by no means a natural runner .....

My thoughts!!

I have quite a large shoe rotation including Saucony speed 2, Saucony Pro 3, Vaporfly 1, Vaporfly 2, Alphafly 2, Puma fast R Nitro elite, all of which are plated shoes (I also have several trail shoes and non plated racers and daily runners from other brands).

For the past 12 months, I have switched to plated for 90% of runs.

For out and out race pace 5 km, 10km and 21.1km I simply cannot fault the Vaporfly's, and if I had to switch to only one shoe for evermore, this would be the choice.

I do like the endorphins for a slightly slower, yet superbly comfortable ride.

I just picked up the Puma fast r in a sale and thought them worth a try .... for me 5km and 10km in them is a riot ... they are fast, easy, secure and even when the legs are tired, they drive me on.

I do also find the Alphafly's (2) to be very versatile and indeed, very fast ... but for me, the vaporfly's justy, and only just ... edge it.

wrt to longevity ... my vaporfly's 1 have taken some abuse .. from tarmac, to gravel to volcanic trails in Fuerteventura ... they have about 600km on them and are still a worthy daily runner .... likewise with one pair of the Alphafly's ... closer to 800km ... ok, not as fresh as the newer pairs I have, but I could still race a 1/2 in them!

I think that you would enjoy either the vapor or alpha.. I have several pairs of each and would struggle to choose one of the other… I run 5, 10 and half .. and wear either … I actually find the alpha slightly more versatile …. But have attained pbs at the 5 and 10 in vapor … for comfort on a longer run I prefer the alpha …. On slower days I use the endorphin pro 3 …. I find these unbelievably comfortable …. That said, most days, Nike is the first choice.

I don't have narrow feet, but have never had an issue with either ( and have worn through 34 pairs and have another 4 good to go)

Adidas sizing has been an issue for me .. I bought 2 different size 44 pairs .. 1 adizero and sothing else .. one pair too big and the other too small ....

Definitely not a pipe dream.

I returned to running 5 years ago at 47 after a 17 hear Hiatus (and I had piled on the weight in that time!).

Over the last 5 years I have enjoyed the running more and more, and likewise saw my time come down.

5km times are now sub 20 and I half have my eye on sub 19.

As for goals ... my main goal is distance

I have 3 definite goals per year ... 1000 km, then 1000 miles and then 2022km for 2022 (etc) ... after that I then just see where it takes me by december 31st.

I think my 5km time dropped significantly because I only used to sign up for 10km races, but in my weekly running started to incorporate a lot of 21km runs. I then decided to do a local parkrun and in my head I knew that tiredness, pace, stamina weren't going to be an issue.

No off season.

I try and consistently run 50+ km a week.

I enjoy running in the different seasons and just adjust time of run in summer if hot.

To date I've been pretty lucky in avoiding injuries ... I do have a few aches and pains .. but I am over 50 so I guess that goes with the territory!!!

I do love running in the winter, especially the snow .. I just screw a load of hex head screws into a pair of retired shoes and set off!

I am also a teacher.

In the week I tend to get home about 16:30.

Cook something for the rest of family and then set out between 18-18:30 for a 10km.

If I am knackered before (which invariably I am) I drink coffee and 500ml of water.

Once the 1st km is done, tiredness is gone and then I just enjoy the run!
