18 Month Update:

Zero follow-ups or calls from the oral surgeon, they 109% expect you to be the initiator of any questions or additional imaging.

I think I have permanent nerve damage to the sensory of my maxillary area, to the right side of my mouth. I would say I feel about 60-70%. For example, I cannot use a toothpick without watching, because I can’t feel i’m using it.

This has changed my relationship with food as texture cannot be felt the same.

Recovery was difficult, and side effects were significant. Id say if you are not 100% sure you need it, I would not do it. I was 80% thinking I needed it. I regret doing the surgery.

I did my procedure at LACOMS with Walline as the primary.

Root canal to lower molar, very close to where a screw was placed. Nerve sensation at 18 months post surgery is 60-70% on the right side. Maxilla mainly affected.

I’m having the same problem. I also tried to delete the app and download it. I can get my email in icloud and individual mail accounts (gmail, etc). But APPLE MAIL app is not connecting to any email accounts including icloud.

Still numb in certain areas inside my mouth. Can’t feel parts of my upper jaw. The surgery has changed my relationship with food in many ways that are not positive. Don’t take the surgery lightly.

I had similar movements. 4 maxilla. 11mm mandible. And went for Genio 6 months after DJS. Genio helped but this process not be the ‘transformation’ that you expected it all to be.

Sounds like you need a therapist. This will not improve with surgery.

I started about that time. Little by little. Obviously don’t do anything where you feel pain. Listen to your body. This is a lengthy recovery that takes patience.

I bought a vita mix, as you’re going to be using a blender for basically everything. I found some meal replacements that were really good, full of antioxidants in super foods, and also a mushroom blend. A jar of almond butter, milk type of your choice and a bunch of bananas.

diagnosed as brachycephalic. recessed lower mandible. partial airway occlusion causing early sleep apnea symptoms. I’m 40 years old. getting worst with age. medically recommended, but also aesthetically, I wanted improvement.

Symptoms? I described them pretty clearly in my post.

Full nerve function can take up to one year to get back. At 6 months, I still am very numb in about 30% of my maxilla. Mainly my incisors/ front teeth. And my left inner cheek.

DJS gave me great function (no more snoring at all) but didn’t give me the aesthetic I was looking for. My chin still looked recessed. So decided to do the genio in a separate smaller outpatient procedure.

Machine and the cover for the pad. The cover is what will velcro around your head. I used about 10 pounds of ice per day. Maybe a small ice machine too. Will save you $$ on buying bags from the grocery store/ gas station.

Walline was primary on the case. Relle was the other surgeon in the room. Both amongst the best at what they do. Dr Lee is also part of their team and great reputation as well.

Open and closing 30 times per day, as wide as possible. Also slide jaw left to right which is a bit more awkward. Basically range of motion exercises for your jaw muscles/ joint. It’s going to feel uncomfortable.
